I think everyone could understand the long break from the forum as that is really a big move! Welcome back Tim, I hope you've settled in nicely and find things much to your liking here in the states.

Well, thanks to everyone for your kind welcomes back! And indeed warm welcomes to the USA!

I ended up in Ferrum, VA as that is where my wifes folks live. It was a handy (and free!) place to live when we arrived back in February, though now we are settled and I am working we are just about to move to Christainsburg, VA as I work in Blacksburg. Its quite different from London I can tell you! But I really couldn't be happier about the move! I must check however if my green card is in the Dargie Delight shade of green!

As for amps, I am still playing my Line 6 Duoverbs! When I left England, I sold all of my amps, pedals and cables to a local band and when I arrived I bought Identical equipment!

Why mess with perfection! :D

As for import taxes on the guitars, the ones that came with me and my wife on the airplane, I declared them at their full value on the customs form and said they were staying in the USA. The Customs people did not make any charges. The ones that came DHL were again declared at full replacement value, and one of them I had to pay $100 or so import duty, mostly due to the shipper marking it as merchandise rather than person property.

Its good to be back!

Is there a secret weapon that you are hiding on the top right of the UK rig? I don't see it in the USA rig however. Thanks for sharing, looking good.

Welcome back Tim! The head office of the company I work for is in Blacksburg. I think you'll like it there. I'll let you know next time I'm coming through.

It's now time for you to learn a different national anthem and find a roof Tim...

Well I'm very disappointed with you - leaving behind everything that SW London and the general Heathrow area has to offer, just to move to the US. That's a long way to go just to make sure you never have to play with Tony Burt again! ;)

Seriously, nice move fella. The really big question though (and the thing that would be my biggest concern about making such a move), is can you get a decent curry anywhere?

To my knowledge, there is one curry house in Roanoke - but I have never been. I like curry, but it was not a deal breaker. I have Mexican food now!
