Have a tribute on the way. What are thoughts on storing via a wall hanger (by the neck)?

Should I be concerned about too much stress on the neck?

The strings put much more tension on the neck than hanging it does. It's perfectly safe.

I've always kept mine on hangers, no issues. I like the convenience of being able to grab one at any time.

Hey Fred, what time is it?! That's a big clock you have there.

So, what pups did you end up putting in the Al?

I'm about to put your originals to good use this weekend! :)

.....and if you ever want to sell the MM90 Sport, I'm your man.

Ever try using storage hooks for tools as guitar wall hangers? I've been using them for 12 years without any problems, and the best part is that they're only about a $1.50 apiece! :D

Gotta agree with ily though, I almost always keep my axes stored away when they aren't in use.

+1

I've been using the tool hangers too.
Just make sure with any hanger that you find a stud to mount it to.;)

I have concerns about hangars like that when they don't have washers over the end of the prongs. Due to the angles of the headsock some guitars will not want to sit squarely in them and actually can have a tendency to twist and then slide all the way off. So I use anything I can find around the house, foam washers, velcro straps, even thick rubber bands, anything to keep that headstock where it is supposed to be.

Jeremy,
Currently it's the old pickups from the Silo. I've ordered a set of chrome 36th Anniversary PAF's to go in it permanently.

My wife was being a smart ass, that's her way of reminding me to hang to clock... :) Gotta love her, I guess she figures I spend so much time there it should be a no brainer to get my attention.

Don't hold your breath waiting for the MM90 Sport, that guitar is a keeper. It's currently my go-to for just about anything.

If they weren't safe you wouldn't see vintage guitars hung on them everywhere. This came up recently on another forum and no one was able to give examples of any neck damage due to hanging. No one had problems doing this for decades.

The bigger concern should be the location of heat sources and sunlight relative to the guitars.

For $15 I like the extra security of the auto-clamp on the Hercules hangers.

I'm a big fan of Hercules stands and hangars.

The system closes the "loop" when downward pressure from the guitar hits the hanger

I've bought a bunch of these for my Axis tribute (and others) to hang on the wall. They even swivel to accommodate asymmetrical headstocks.

I think wall hangers are pretty safe. I don't use one myself, but my brother uses them. Never heard him say any of his guitars have fallen off the wall. I have been thinking about using them to save some space.
