Well, you ever pick up a guitar and just feel it needed to be yours? That is what happened with this one. This one was obviously someones beloved main player for the past 20 years and it shows. Despite all the play wear, there is actually no major damage to the wood anywhere. Its all just honest to goodness mojo. My buddy called me when they took this in and when I went down to check it out I immediately wanted it. I couldnt stop thinking about this one so I brought her home today.
This one is going to get a full resurrection and a new lease on life no matter what it cost me. I figure on putting about 1200 into it to get her back to factory fresh. I WILL NEED an evh bridge or early model axis bridge. I will pay! I may also need a set of evh pups. PM me if you have any.

Nice score, that natural looks great. Good luck finding the parts you need. I have a 1996 Axis with the same trem you are looking for and honestly I am just going to send it to EBMM to upgrade to the new trem when that time comes. Is this a player or a collector? If the first I would send it in and get the new trem then look for the old one... that way you have it up and running faster.

There was a set of EVH/Axis pickups on eBay recently. Maybe you will be lucky!

Natural finishes on the EVH/Axis type guitars always look killer. Looks like a classy shred machine...

If you cant find the original pickups, the actual EVH brand has a set out which sound pretty similar to the original ones put into the EBMM model you're trying to set up!

Ill put up some pics of the back when I get a chance. The neck was so dark I didn't know it had any birdseye but it actually has quite a bit once I got it cleaned up

I may end up doing it that way, I want to send it to EB for a refret(even though it doesn't need it) so they can clean the board with all the frets off. I got the back of the neck so clean it barely looks used but the board is almost impossible with the frets on.

Hey guys the pickups are the same in the Axis and the EVH. The pickup's are not available for sale. The tone zone is a close match for replacement.

Why would you need $1200 to fix this up? Fret job is around $240 from EBMM, pups shouldn't be more than $200 and trem, maybe $200?

I was just way over shooting lol. Also adding in the cost if I was going to have it refinished but at this point I think a buff should do just fine

A Sterling AX30D has the Axis/EVH pickups in it. Pick one up used swap the pickups and then resell it. You probably would spend very little that way.

here are some shots of the neck before and after the cleaning process. The first pic is the after of the back. Like I said, the back of this neck was almost black, it was so discolored in fact you could not see ANY birdseye in it. The second picture is of the back midway through cleaning, this was after the 4th pass and about 45minutes to an hour in. The 3rd pic is as far as I could go on the board with the frets on and the 4th pic is after 2 passes through. This neck was DAHK(new england accent) but not too far gone.
I may go with a dimarzio tone zone like tollie suggested to save a few bucks, the bridge Im not really willing to compromise on but may have to until an evh bridge comes up. Ive got it working at the moment without having to worry about getting tetnus from all the rust, but it aint pretty lol. I also need a toggle switch...
The top is actually really nice and if I save enough on the hardware I might go for a full restore and send the body out for finish repair. She's coming along!

Are those the original pickups and just not working? EBMM will sell you a set, but they need the old ones back.
