would love a Steve Morse! new to the board

Hey all, I'm new to the board here. I tested out my first Steve Morse about a month ago, and now I'm hooked! I've been trying to trade for one since then! If anyone has one you want to trade for, let me know! Otherwise, excited to be here!

welcome! go ahead and get yourself a Y2D. there are a few on ebay for a good price. sell off an oher guitar for it, you'll not regret it.
trust me, i know what i'm talking about ;)

thanks for the responses guys! I got to play both models (the older and the y2d) and it is just magic! what's tough about a lot of my guitars is the shift between pickups. great crunch at the bridge, great neck position blues, but it's kind of a jekyll and hyde situation. with the morse, everything seems to fit. you can flip from bridge to neck, or pos 2 to pos 4 and the tone adjusts but still fits. unbelieveable. I like setting the amp for pos 2 and using pos 1 or 5 for leads. instant boost! man they got this one right!

I started out with a preference for the Y2D, since I found the aesthetic of the 4 pickups on the standard Morse to be off-putting. However, over the past couple years I've gone to really dislike the Y2D and prefer the standard Morse for the versatility that it offers. Actually my standard Morse with the full rosewood neck is probably my favorite Music Man guitar (thanks Benji!). I don't think you can really go wrong with any Music Man guitar but the Morse models have a certain magic to them that the others are lacking if you ask me!

i actually did have a slight leaning to the standard. not sure why, but I think I know what you're talking about! the aesthetics aren't that big a deal, just gots to get a Morse!!!!

I too have had the standard in mind but ended up getting the Y2D as it was the only one the store had; at that time I didn't know EBMM still manufactured the original and thought it was replaced by the Y2D. It's really a very fine instrument and I'm happy with it, the 5 tones are more than enough for me but the hardtail would better suit as I've discovered I'm not really the floyd type.

To OP, if you havent heard some of steves music when he converted to EBMM, give HIGH TENSION WIRES a try.
Not sure if that was his first effort after but its many of his fans favorite as it has some amazing tunes...including HIGHLAND WEDDING...which iirc Brian Ball was lucky enough to have Steve play at his wedding.

Do i remember this story right? Because its a wonderful tribute to everything the man and members of the family mean to each other.

I can go either way on the floyd. I love the versatility, but also the stability of a fixed.

Why don't you go for broke and get a PDN Y2D Morse with the roasted neck/fretboard? Might be the only chance to get one in that neck config and the blue is KILLER.

High Tension Wires is absolutely my favorite of all Steve Morse recordings. Killer writing, playing and tones.

My standard morse doesn't get much love at the moment becuase its the oldest of the bunch but gave it a dusting off last night and it sounded immense .
Need to start using it more..
