Ugh… I hadn't noticed all the colors that are gone and the missing models (Axis BFR, etc.). Was kinda hoping BP and Dargin would forget that part… But -- perhaps I got in an order before the deadline………. :D

Sad to see just black and white available for the Silhouette Special. Oh well. C'est la vie, Daddio.

Yeah - same here. Silo Spec looks like its been left to die which is unfortunate for a great and very under-rated guitar. Was always hoping to see a BFR Silo Spec with a quilt top and roasted maple neck some day!

They won't leave anything "to die". That wouldn't make much sense and I can only assume that they kept everything that would make money. So I'm happy to see the Shilouette Special make the cut. Clearly we are seeing a leaner, easier to manage production lineup, which is no doubt necessary bearing in mind the new production capacity required for the St Vincent, Stingray, and Cutlass.

I know that black, white, sunburst, and red are the top selling colours in bolt-on neck guitars across all brands. We knew they were keeping black and white when they announced they were discontinuing most of the old colours, so I had figured they would replace the vintage sunburst, red pearl, and blue pearl with new variations. And indeed we now have Chilli Red and Vintage Turquoise, though they have kept the vintage sunburst. Black, white, sunburst and Chilli Red are offered on the the Stingray and the Cutlass gets black, white, sunburst and Vintage Turquoise. But I'm a little surprised that not even the sunburst was left on the Silhouette/Silhouette Special line. Black and white just seem really plain and 'budget' for such a classy tone machine as the Silhouette Special, in my humble and biased opinion.

But irrespective of our back seat musings, they have made the best decisions and we wish them every success with all of it.

You know with NAMM coming up they could always introduce some new colors at the show. I doubt they are gonna give everything away before the show.

On the Music Man site it lists Cutlass as having SSS pickup config. What about this one with a humbucker in the bridge? There isn't an option for it, unless this is reserved as an artist model later down the road. I guess NAMM 2016 will have a lot more info. Nice work, Sterling! I like what you all are doing.

kids the silo and silo special only stayed around because it was nostalgic and our first....We kept a lot of things that you diehards love but the public could give a rats ass about...this is another way of showing you guys that we love you and value you but if we ran the company for you we would be gone....remember my cayenne pepper analogy? If you notice there was very little jp cut.....because people buy them. want the silhouette to do well get your friends to buy one! hahjahah

BP, what else was on the cutting block. Do I need to hurry up on another Axis or ASS? Or do I have time to add a little Luke BFR to my collection first?

I also noted that there wasn't a JP cut. Of course they are making the best decisions about what's best for the company. So, BP it's right: We are the EBMM fans, but we have to get people buy the Silo for they to survive. I'm a JP kind of guitar player, so I'm happy that people are still buying pretty much all the JP's out there lol... Hope they never die!

Also, I'm LOVING those vintage trems on the Stingray and the Cutlass!!! They are beautiful, and look pretty solid (no doubt they are and sound excellent) and match the whole vintage look of the new models.

I am a little bummed that the ivory for both models only comes with a maple board. I would have been all over vintage white with rosewood. I want a Stingray but since I prefer rosewood I am not sold on the color that comes with that. I may have to consider the turquoise Cutlass....but I prefer the offset Stingray.

I've wanted a silo HSS maple neck with piezo for so long, but never came across one here in Australia.
If it's going to be discontinued I better tell my wife that she is going to miss out. Maybe then I'll have a chance :)

Sorry, the piezo option on Silos/Silo Specials is already discontinued - as of October 31 I believe. Of course that doesn't mean that there weren't any ordered before the cut-off date that will soon be showing up at dealers - I spotted an Axis SS Semi-hollow with the piezo (the option was also discontinued on the Axis SSs) on a dealer's "just arrived" page a couple of days ago. And you could always look for a used one.
