Got one and am beginning to bond after over 20 years of Fender; Sterling solved the dead spots on the "G" ! Great bass for me so far, use it for Worship Team and backing up at an acoustic jam; Band playing days are pretty much over due to neuropathy.

The Musicman says "Sterling" in two places on the headstock, would like to remove the smaller one at the end of the headstock to clean up the look; Kind of tacky. looks like it was added.

Also,, will it play passively if the battery is dead or removed?

It's not a Music Man though, it's a "Sterling by Musicman" brand "Sterling" bass. That's the model and the make, which is why the font is different.

I'm aware of that. I just want to remove the "Sterling", large script at the end of the headstock and keep the smaller "Sterling" under the "A and "D" tuning posts which does not match and looks, to me, a bit tacky. Sooo, just wonder if anybody can guide me if the script is printed over the finish, then I could "erase" it with something like a typewriter eraser. Not attempting top make a counterfit, just want to suit my tastes. Thanks for the reply

I could be wrong but I don't remember SBMM doing a Sub series Sterling bass. Can you show us a photo of the whole bass please, back and front if possible?
Just went by what GC called it, on the receipt, and what is on the headstock, Sterlings are great instruments. Doesn't bother me what it's called. All I want to do is remove the "Ster;ing" at the end of the heaestock adn , of course, keep the"Sterling" below the "A" and "D" String posts. Beeen suggested, 0000 steel woll (then Claybar and polish)
Thanks
