I had this Sterling JP160 with a set of Illuminator Pick-ups and i loved the sound properties of the guitar, i was sitting one day comparing sounds with my Main Guitar a Ibanez RG470 with a Set of DiMarzio D-Sonic and Paf Pro and i was noticing that my Ibanez couldn't do those feedbacks that i liked so much that the Sterling could do...

Then i figured out after deep research that the Preamp inside the Sterling could be the solution and i wanted to install the same electronic into my Ibanez but i wasn't able to find it in any store.

I found some alternatives like the Noll PA 1 Preamp and the EMG AB(Afterburner) but i don't know if i could get the same Effect using those and i don't wanna remove the ones on the Sterling

I could notice that also the JP6 model was able to do that and probably other Models of the JP or Majesty or other guitars with onboard preamps could but i didn't find any test or evidence of it on the Internet of someone actually testing the sustained harmonics/feedback notes.

Can someone here help me to confirm that you can get that effect with other guitars or with different Preamp that the one Music Man or Sterling is using?

This is a video showing the effect I'm talking about on long notes played by Petrucci himself.

There’s no great secret to feedback- at a high enough volume or with enough gain and you’ll get it. (Also the wah helps- you get more energy in a narrow frequency band.)

Perhaps just try plugging your guitar into a clean boost or overdrive pedal. You’ll get similar results to the onboard boost.
