I used 008 on all my guitars for a while, no issues. Much less hand fatigue, and it's a lot of fun to play. If you like to play without effort, it's for you.
But since February of this year, I started using Billy Gibbons' signature 007 gauge... and I'm loving it even more!
I don't know man, I'm a 009 guy for 25.5" scales, but when I bought my first JP(12) I setup for 09 and it was a little too soft.
Playing other JPs later, setup for 10s, what usually is a little heavy for me, it was sweet. Even though this is personal I think the JP's somehow are better suited for 10s. When I play a strat with 10s I feel my tendons pulling a lot of weight, in my other JP is just fine.
