The pot on my axis is going. So i though that before swapping out the PUP for something brighter i may want to try a 1 meg pot in there..

Anyone done this?

Haven't tried it, but should work ok. 1 Meg pots are usually ok on high output pickups, which sort of fits those on the Axis. The downside is that you'll lose highs quickly when you back off the volume (in which case you might want to wire up a treble bleed cap/resistor to your volume pot).

Personally I think it's pretty bright already. Any chance you're losing highs through your rig or cable? A low capacitance cable or buffer in your FX chain might brighten things up substantially.

I don't think so. The thing is, on my 2 silo's i have Bill Lawrence L500L's so anything else will usually sound dark and mushy!
The L500L to me sound like the perfect cross between a single coil and a Humbucker. Punchy as hell, clear detailled but also Distortion ready.

I don't ususally roll back the volume much. pretty much like driving a go kart:D

1 meg pots are used on pickups like, the fender noisless
pickups, if you don't use a 1 meg pot it dosn't have any output.
So I think you should go for a 500k pot instead, the 1 meg will
be to much, but thats just me.

Generally you can swap in whatever pot you like. Higher resistance = brighter output. (HB equipped guitars usually have 500k pots, single coils 250ks as they don't need as much brightening).

Besides, there's no loss in trying out a new pot. Worst case you're out a buck or two if you don't like it ;)

Well it's done! I haven't had a lot of time to compare but so far. It seems to have brighten things up.
