On another thread I started, asking about a 2005 LE Stingray 4H in Buttercream....I wanted to let everyone know I pulled the trigger and picked her up this morning. This is in absolutely "AS NEW" condition. The original owner bought her new and never gigged her; kept her in the case for most of the past 5 years.

I've posted pics so you can see the shape she's in. On the back, there are two factory stickers, one over the neckplate and another, bar-code strip, in the middle of the back above the battery compartment. The case candy is still in the factory sealed bags. The left and right latches still have the plastic covering them.

Anyway, I'm totally thrilled to have her. Any feedback, opinions, questions, please let me know.

Caveat about the pics: my old Sony camera is in need of replacing. I apologize for the lack of quality of the pics. I will track down someone with a better camera and post some high-res pics that really do show her off properly.

Congrats! I almost had my hands on a SR5 Buttercreme, but it wasn't meant to be. First thing to do is get some wire cutters, and fix that mess by the headstock. :)

Yeah, the kid I bought this from is a drummer. :( He thought he was "helping" by putting on new strings. The first thing I did, since this has been cased for almost it's entire lifetime, was take it by a master luthier friend of mine (who use to build instruments for Alembic) and had him do a total set up. The neck needed a bit of tweak, the fretboard oiled, a couple of frets dressed and, of course, restrung properly and intonated. She plays like a wicked dream now!

Beautiful bass!! Congrats on the score.

I'm curious, are there any features that make the Limited Edition different from a regular Stingray?

You know, Yango, I don't know the answer to that, beyond the obvious cosmetic (the color, as an example) and the case. It seems to me to be a Stingray 4 H with 3-band EQ. Other than the above, this bass seems to be the same as another 4H I used to own. However, I understand that there were a small number of these made with the 2-band EQ, but this is not one of those.

Undoubtedly, there are others on this forum who know more about this than I.

Yup just the color and the case are different in the LE runs. Every year EBMM comes out with a limited edition color run. Oh and the year is on the fretboard at the 12th fret.

I noticed that there is no year at the 12th according to the pic posted?

It has the year on the back under the neck plate. They weren't doing the fretboard inlays yet.

I love the look of the Buttercream ltds. My white Bongo that I got in 2004 is starting to be the same color with age.
