OK so now I leave the box full. This isn't working because the forum then sends me an email that someone is trying to reach me...my internet forwards it to my blackberry that beebs me that I have a message. SO trying to have a nice private conversation with John Petrucci I get beeped 10 times...they all turn out to be a message from the foum that Jaxadam is pmming me and my box is full.

WIlson is still trying.

one last time Please dont pm me.

Big Poppa...maybe you should just dis-able that feature. Those who know how to get ahold of you through other means can as you gave them those routes.

C'mon folks...let's respect the wishes of the owner here.

+1!

And besides - who can't get a hold of you through the message board?!?!? Honestly, just start a thread with "Hey BP! I need your help!!!" and he'll get to it when he can (usually within a day or two it seems - usually less - you rock BP!). AND, probably your question can be answered by, oh, I don't know, Customer Service with a toll free number????? Come on people! Show some respect.

Percentage of times BP has answered my questions: 100

Number of times I have PM'd BP: 0 - yeah, zero!

Yeah man, that is just uncool to PM BP 10 freakin' times! Once is against his wishes, but 10 is just obnoxious. Turning of PM would be a plus for people like PM and the celebs.

all i can say BP is...you own the company, you post here on a very regular basis, people want to talk to you...the way i see it, it is only natural for people to want to go to the top.

i'm surprised you didnt think that people would do this...

that's why you get paid the big bucks!!!:D

Why don't you just add him to the ignore list,( opposite of buddy list in profile)
it would be better than turning off the pm feature.
The whole PM thing sucks, people should pay attention!!
you post here every day, how much easier can it get....

I think that his point is....he is here just about everyday...several times a day at that. His schedule is not something I would want, very busy, with all the behind the scenes stuff. With his PM box full of questions at which 99% of them could probably be answered by the very tool (Customer Service) he implemented and takes pride in.

Just cause he is the Top Man....doesn't mean he should have to field every little question via a PM. That is what Customer Service is for. That is what they get paid for.

The other thing...he might just drop off here (his own forum) because people are not respecting his wishes on the whole PM thing. This is where we (the knuckleheads) get inside information, history and some good advice and Big Poppa is a big reason for this. He just wants to be one of the fellas on the forum to take a break from his hectic day. He loves to share his stories and advice, but he should not have to constantly remind people to quit with the PM's.

Brent...don't take this as I am picking on your response...just using the words as I believe alot of people think they "have" to talk to BP as he will give them a better answer when that is not necessarily the case. He just wants to hang out with us.

So, again, STOP WITH THE PM'S TO BIG POPPA! I don't want him to go "underground" because peeps not respecting his wishes. So, let's not ruin for the good of the forum....

rant over.

People may just think that it's just a little PM. He's here anyways.
I'm a business owner and for me, the accumulation of little things is a killer!!!
They take away from the bigger things that are very crucial from "the bigger picture".
I easily lose 1-2 hours per day taking care of such little things. Most of the time they're not even important.

So I say this. You PM happy people can have your choice.

(1) PM BP: BP will gladly spend lots of time here and answer the useless PMs that customer service or dealers get paid to do anyways. BP will not however be working on new products and giving us development porn and info from the signature artists...........and all the other things that we are priviledged to by being here!!!!!

or

(2) NO PMs: appreciate the fact that BP is even here, but leave him to do his business!!!

I know what my choice is!!!!

I'm quite new here but I knew not to PM just by having seen posts from BP - it's in his signature and with the amount he posts you can't claim not to have seen it.

This is the only forum I've bothered joining and BP being on here is one of the reasons. Please don't ruin it for everyone else.

Add to that the fact the Customer Service is second to none and I don't see why anyone on this forum should PM.

Here less than a month, less than 10 posts and he gets it. Nice post Chris! Welcome!

The way I look at it, unless BP has personally told you it's okay to PM him - don't.

AAAAaaaaarrrrrrrrggggghhhhh!!!!! I can't STAND when people say this. Whether or not you are paid well has NOTHING to do with whether should have to put up with a lack of respect. Let's be considerate folks. Go read the Harvard Business Review article on the care and feeding of monkeys. When we ask BP a question, we see it as simple - because we've only asked him one question. If everybody thinks that way and a hundred people each ask him a question, he has 100 times the work to do. That's not fair to anybody - and most people don't really understand this simple concept until they are actually faced with it.

He has asked people not to PM him MANY times, has had it in is signature, and has even started several threads on it. At this point, we are risking losing his forum involvement. Time to listen to him folks.

+ 1 on this... I own a business myself and it's the little things that certain people bother you with that makes you want to give up your business sometimes... On the other hand, the other 99% of my customers make it all worth while... It's the 1% that can make your life hell...

BP, I hope you keep posting here, I have nothing but respect for the things you do and create and for the fact that we can talk to you on this forum like we can talk to the our neighbours! All the cool stories, all the inside information,... One of the main reasons why I like this forum so much!!

All the best!

Good thing BP said something first. Mr. Petrucci might not have been so considerate.

I'd hate to be the victim of his World Domination Mode :D

I understand some people may be starstruck, but if you stay on the forum for a little while, you'll see that BP just mingles like everyone else. If he didn't have the signature at all, I'm sure new posters wouldn't even know who he was. But, since the signature is bright and clear, I think maybe the guy just can't read.

And if you can't read, don't involve yourself with a forum.
