Hi all, I'm thinking of trying a set of 11s on my Silo Special. Will they fit in the compensated nut without the need for filing?

Thanks in advance.

Hello

I use 10-52 strings with my AL. No problem with the compensated nut.
The problems can come from the low strings (E A D).
If you need to file the slots, you can use your old strings.

By all means try it, if the strings move freely through the slots and your tuning stability holds up you are ok. But you may need to widen the slots a little (jut don't make them any deeper). If any of the strings clearly don't fit in their slots, don't push them home. You risk cracking the nut (with the low E string the corner of the nut can break off).

Thanks Gents, appreciate your help. I guess I'm looking for somebody who has tried a full set of 11s to tell me "yes" or "no".

I really don't want to bugger up my beautiful guitar.
