guys ...

i've sold my avatar 210 due to its bulkiness
thus i am looking for a smaller one probably a 112

of course aggies' GS112 normally tops the list

i am also looking at Dr Bass 112, Avatar SB112 compact as well
or probably genzbenz xb2 112

any other inputs for a good, affordable single 112 cab?

There was a 1x12" cab product shootout review thingy in Bass Player a couple of years ago...

Hope that helps.

Again, not exactly answering your question but I use the 2x12 Silverado Special by SWR (combo amp) and love it... so much so that I actually have 2. It gets some great lows by itself, can punch through most live situtations (I have to use an another ext cab to keep up with my gutairist's Mesa set up... which is very loud), very reliable and very versitle. There are much better solutions out there, but for the cash it is awesome (I got my first one used for 500 (and have seen them cheaper on ebay) and got my second one new for 750) - the only 2 things that are issues 1) the tweeter is on or off, no attunator (no biggie, I don't like SWR's tweeters anyway) - second they are discontinued - replaced by SWR's new 15 combo. They are out there, you just have to look.

I've been using an Aguilar 1x12 with a GK1001Rb recently for my restaurant blues gigs with my Bongo 5. It sounds great, and there is more than enough bass audible in the place. I've also got a Mesa Walkabout that sounds wonderful with the Aggie.

We don't go overboard with the volume, but it's still plenty loud to fill a three level brick building. My guitar player only uses 6 1/2(!) watts live, but it sounds plenty loud.

The Aggie is not as transparent as some of the other boutique 1x12 cabs (EA, Bergantino, Epifani), but it sounds amazing. When I want to add more clarity, I'll throw an EA CXL110 on top of the 1x12, and I can tweak any tone I want out of it.

I can get by with a 1x12 for most gigs because I play with guys who don't bash the hell out of their instruments and don't think a Marshall full stack is needed to play blues. If you play with a guitar player who uses a 4x12 or a drummer who thinks he needs to hit the drums as hard as humanly possible, then a 1x12 isn't going to cut it. You can make a high end cab, and physics are still physics.

But, I love my rig. Nothing better after a three hour gig than a one trip loadout. :D

I def recommend the Avatar 1x12. It works GREAT as an extension cab for my little Ashdown Mag 300 watt 1x15 Combo amp. Big sound - small package!;)
