Anybody know if there are plans to come out with a Roland-compatible MM? I saw a demo of the new Roland VG-99 and it was amazing. It should be out in late July or August. A built-in hex pickup and 13-pin on an Axis or something would be really cool....

Don't hold your breath, unless you have enough air in you lungs to last several decades. ;) You can always get a retrofit done?

Whats the install like on a retrofit? Possible to do yourself? I've always thought having a Roland equipped JP would be topnotch.

The same was said about ebmm building acoustics.
BP said there are plenty of companies that are already good at that.
Unless one of the artist wants it, don't count on it.

actually Im always interested in pushing forward. I think that Fender has the exclusive on this from the factory. I was very close to being the first guitar offered with the Variaz installed but at the last minute Fender expressed interest and then Line 6 folded on us.
(Even though the first questikon in negotiations was what if Fender or Gibson expresses interest..."Dont worry we want you") I like the guys over there though and you can't blame them.....

I think I got lucky as the Variax didnt really perform up to my standards. (and Fender bailed)

The VG-99 has me drooling too. Now that I have a JP LE on order and my other JP will become my regular player, I've been toying with the idea of retrofitting my Sub with a GK-3. It looks like it would be fairly easy to do.

But then there's the issue of Windows compatibility... we know where that would end up. I say just buy an adapter and use a good sound card. It's cheaper that way for you and them.

I have to be honest. I've been using Macs since 1984. Windows compatibility never crossed my mind! Besides - that's a software issue - not a hardware issue.

Nah, instead of USB, and Variass, and 13-pins... guitar builders should focus on a guitar with a built in ice cream maker.

after a gig, musicians are usually hot due to the stage lights, lack of oxygen in smoky clubs, etc... having a built in ice cream maker in the guitar would ensure that hot musicians (and maybe a lucky groupie!) get the cool cool flavorful taste of chunky ice cream.

i know i'm not alone in this request.

Guitar makers should replace string trees with those automotive scented trees... I hate smelling smoke while I play. I used to sing for an opera company and the tech crew would stand on the loading dock and smoke. You could smell it onstage... horrible...

But that's just me...

I've got a VG-8EX. What is the VG-99 like and how is it different?
