I was wondering if anyone out there owns a 1979 Sabre or has played one in the past. What are the necks comparable to in size? Are they similar to a modern StingRay or a modern Sterling? Or are they a different beast altogether?

They feel very much Like an Ernie Ball Stingray from 1985 til 1990, The only difference is that all of the Ernie Ball Necks work, Can't say the same for those Sabre's in the mid to late 1970's.

I guess I have one of the rare ones that works....

My '80 Sabre (sept 79 body/apr 80 neck), the neck is 1-5/8 wide and it is thinner front-to-back than any current EB model, like MM Nut says it's much like the 85-90 models. It is also very comfortable as it has a very 'rounded' fretboard edge.

I took measurements on my 79`southpaw Sabre, and its also 1 5/8 wide up to 2 1/2 at the body, i can`t really say about the SR of 85` but the neck is still working
and smooth after all these years:cool:
