The pickups are the same that are in every Axis and the EVH.

I personally would never even contemplate replacing them, they are simply awesome. They are pretty high output also!

I've yet to find a pickup that sounds like the bridge pickup. It is SUPER hot, and can handle any type of rock/metal you want to throw at it.

The neck pickup has been a mixed blessing for me. I've always found it a little muddy. I've heard that the DiMarzio Humbucker from Hell is great in the neck position.

I'd bet a set of Breed pickups (bridge and neck) would sound good too.

The Air Norton is almost exactly the same as the stock Axis neck unit.

I'll give ya more than the other guy for those stock pups man. So rip em out of that fine guitar and send em to me. PM me if you don't think I'm serious.

Get a couple of Gibson LP pups to replace them with. YOu'll be happy.

LOL

I ended up replacing the bridge pickup in my amber Axis with an evo. It sounds greaat, I really like the edginess of the tone. It's a little brighter, but with lots of meat. I only replaced it because something happened to the original pickup, it lost almost 90% of it's output. shame, cuz it kicked ass, but I still have one in my Tobacco Sunburst Axis.

Kingkong, I assume yours is an HSS Sport?

I absolutely loved the bridge HB in the one I had, and as I undstand, it's the same pup as what's in the ASS.

Tony, to my ears, the Breed is more tight bottom heavy than the Axis HB. I like them both, but frankly, if I got my hands on a stock Axis bridge pup, I'd probably dump the Breed. I really loved the sound of that Axis HB in the Sport. I tried to find one used for my HSS Silo Special before getting the Breed, but had no luck.
