I've recently experimented with Ernie Ball Silk & Steel. Love the warm tone coupled with subtle and rich overtones. Quite wonderful.

Two questions:

1. I have a very fragile guitar and need to know string tensions. Where can I find published tension on the .11-.52 and .13 to .56 sets?

2. Why does Ernie Ball not make a .12-.54 set to slot in between the .11-.52 and .13 to .56? I could really use the in between set for most of my instruments.

Thanks in advance for any reply.

Hi! Ernie Ball don't publish the tensions but if you call them they can give you the info you need. Looking at the website, Silk & Steel no longer appear. They may have ended production. Again, a call to customer service will tell you what you need to know. See link in my signature below this post.

Thanks. I will call.

I do hope that the Silk & Steel are not discontinued - there's no other silk & steel by any manufacturerer that uses 80/20 Bronze wraps. Everyone else use Phosphor Bronze so the Ernie Ball version is unique in the market place. It looks also to be the best selling compared to other brands, based on the number of reviews on Amazon.

Welcome any other comments. THanks.

Thanks. I called during regular business hours but they are not picking up. I did leave a message and also sent them a query online.

I'm curious how good/poor EB's customer service is going to be. Will update here. Thanks.
