From working ina repair shop, usually there will be a very very tiny burr on the bridge saddle. This will cause the string to break after constant playing-causing friction against the burr to compromise the integrity of the string.

if the guitar is under warranty you will probably want to change out the 1st string saddle. Another alternative is to replace the saddle with string savers-graphite type saddles. This may not work with the eB saddles however.

Hope that helps

if the saddle has a burr.. wouldnt it break after the ball end part where it resets on the actual saddle? in this case the string breaks on the wire that loops around the ball end.. which i find really frustrating.. maybe in the toneblock? shrugs

strange indeed, was about to suggest to use RPS but if you say it breaks on the ball end loop

try to make sure you have nothing left in the string hole...

that also happen to me on my Luke piezzo

i've baught 5 set of 9/42 slinky in the same shop
the 5 first E strings have broken at ball after 2 or 3 days

20 years i use EB STRINGS .....for me they are the best (i've tried all brands...)
and i put new strings 2 times per a month..

i've baught 1 other set always EBMM but new coated at other shop
no problem with it
now i've switch to 10/46 always in EB REGULAR no rps
no problem with her
result is not a guitar problem :)

i think it's a small problem with production line (how many miles of strings per a day.....):cool:

perhaps it's your case

try with an another set not in the same shop

The best bet with this sort of thing is to contact the customer service folks. They can help you sort out any issues.

It's hard to say from the photo. As mentioned, it could be a small burr. Or could be unrelated. Either way, they'll help walk you through any issues and take care of you.

It will probably be tomorrow (July 6) before they get back to you; most US companies that have a Monday-Friday work schedule are taking today (July 5) as their 4th of July Holiday.

Just a bit of advice. When I buy strings I always buy 1 loose G and B string in the gauge I am using, and 3 loose high E strings to keep in the house. As these are the strings even when your ax is running perfect that are at the highest risk to break due to a super wide bend or whatever. But it sucks having to open a whole new pack just to take out one string so buy those spares as they always come in handy.

Lately there has been many post on similar situations on here.
I never have string breakage problems with my balls but to be honest I really only use coated strings from another brand. I have many packs of slinkies still for my other non main guitars but I never get probs. The only problem I have is that I can turn Slinkies black in mere hours which is the reason I have to use coated strings.

Havent tried the RPS slinkies though. They have a stronger ball end apparently.

Could it be your climate?
Have you tried lubricating the saddles a little.

I had a guitar do that. It was a burr or kind of a sharp edge in the bottom of the hole when it was drilled.

Can't tell you what I did tho:D

CS can sort it out for you.

I did notice this was more of a a problem for .009s and I've never had a problem with .010s

sorry to steal the attention for a moment, but if there is burr, where on the saddle is it?
