1st time recording with my 20 yr old SR5

I've been playing bass for 45 years and I've recorded myself at home many times but yesterday I got a chance to record in a real studio with Pro-Tools HD at 196khz etc. The engineer was able to get the biggest warmest ballsiest bass tone I've ever heard. Why does anyone play anything else?

I know! I recorded with my SR5 6 months ago and I got the best tone ever. The engineer who is a friend of mine told me it was the best he'd ever heard in his 30+ years in the business.
