1. The trem arm is squeaky on my axis, I was wondering how I could get rid of the squeak. Could WD-40 work? should I take the arm off to apply?

2. How do you loosen the trem arm on the axis, I want the bar to be able to swing around when I let go if it

Thanks alot :D

A drop of 3-in-1 oil would get rid of the squeak. Yes, you probably should take it off to get it on the threads.

There is a little hex screw on the underside (the volume knob side), loosen or tighten to adjust the swing of the bar.

If you don't know already, the bar is removed via a hex screw in the spring compartment. I didn't know this when I got mine ;)

i would wait before you adjust the screw cause mine loosened up on its own after i used it for about a week and the oil will probably free it up a little also

Ok well ive got the floyd level, and it stays in tune perfectly it's just I'd like to have a lower action but the claw for the spring tension is screwed in all the way already, and if lower the action the front end of the bar dips down.

If I could get what I have now with lower action it would be perfect, because my divebombs don't sustain as long right now

what size strings do you have on there and is your floyd flat on the body or is it floating and is this a new guitar or was it used.

Size strings: Super Slinkies (9's)
It's raised a little bit, it's not a floating tremolo if thats what you mean
New guitar

how are you lowering the action? the the bridge is as low as it can be when it comes from the factory so if you lowered it by adjusting the two main pivot bolts than turn them back to the original settings and then loosen the spring claw back so it is just tight enough so when you do a string bend that it doesnt raise off the body. after you get the bridge back the way it was from the factory you adjust the action lower by tightening the truss rod a little at a time till the action is the way you want it. it will lower the action on the higher frets. when you tighten the truss rod if you start to get fret buzz on the lower frets 1-5 then you have gone to far and need to loosen it a little bit. when making the adjustments go a little at a time like a eigth of a inch and then give it a half hour or so for the neck to move .

Ok well I'm setting it in to get set up because of the following

MyGear13.jpg

this is as far as the whammy bar goes down, i cant lower the action anymore because the spring claw is all the way screwed in and I think thats because of this

MyGear12.jpg

once I get the neck straight, I think i should be able to lower the action a bit more with a little less spring tension but I'm sending it in because I don't think I have the guts to adjust the truss rod yet because I just got it.

For future reference, where is the truss rod? I've never had experience with the Axis' floyd before

the truss rod is the black wheel at the bottom of the neck. and a set up should fix all of your problems but if you tried to lower the bridge you need to adjust it back because you are forcing the front of the bridge down into the body thats why you had to tighten the claw all the way

yes it straightens the neck but it also lowers the action. as far as getting it back to factory settings you need to talk to jon about that. im sure your not the first guy to make the mistake of thinking you could lower the bridge.

where did you send it to get set up. you should ask them to shim the neck a little to get better action on the higher frets. i added a .010 shim and it made the action nice and low on the upper frets.
