Okay guys:

1. Best way to clean off a dirty maple neck and fingerboard?

2. Best way to remove rust spots from pickup pole pieces?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

This might sound crazy but, Mr. Clean Magic Eraser with some warm water and a soft cotton towel/rag works like "Magic" (on the really dirty unfinished maple necks and boards). Follow it up with some wonder wipes though.

Cool! I already did the Murphy's - next time I WILL try the Magic Eraser - got one of those here too. Thanks!

And FWIW, WD40 on Q-Tips does a nice job on pole pieces. ;)

mentions a usefull tool which could be used to really clean up the pole pieces.
They use this tool in electronics for cleaning the copper strips on circuit (bread) boards.
It's cheap tooand uses a fibre glass tip so you get no metal debris sticking to the pole pieces. Careful though, I would use rubber (surgeons) gloves when using as those fibre glass shards can make you itch. I would not be without this tool!!

I use and swear by the Planet Waves fretboard cleaner (the red coloured one) for my rosewood and ebony boards, and lemon oil for the maple.

Easiest way i've found is to hold the trem in place by shoving something the right size under it, take ALL the strings off....spray onto the fretboard and give it a good scrub with a toothbrush and then wipe off the excess and re-string.

The one thing I don't like about the EBMM unfinished maple necks is how quickly they get very dirty.......the EBMM WonderWipes fretboard conditioner left my neck clean & feeling good.
