Ok what's the deal with Nat headstocks? I was shocked to see some people asking if the Gold (Green) Roller DD2 would be avalibable in a nat headstock. Personally, I strongly dislike nat headstocks on guitars with dark fretboards. On a maple fretboard it is ok but other than that no thanks. Chime in your thoughts and answer the poll.

I think natty headstocks are an acquired taste, like good sushi or fine wine. Kidding. But they can be nice. I dig, for example, the piezo-less natty black JP6 on Stream of Consciousness off the DT dvd Live at Budokan. Looks badass.

I'll add that I think it is totally awesome EBMM offers it as an option. That way we get to decide. What other manufacturer does this? I'm sure they exist but I can't think of one.

I strongly dislike guitars with natty heads unless they have a maple board. Otherwise, no thanks. To me it looks like it's incomplete.

"Tonto say, natural headstock and maple fretboard solid like mountain stone. Natural headstock and dark fretboard like fish on bicycle".

To me, maple FB's look best with a natty headstock and dark fretboards look best with matching headstocks.

Before I got my first EBMM and only cruised around in this forum looking at guitar pix, I really disliked matching headstocks. Then I got my sub 1.... Ok...sort of matching, sort of not, but no option anyway. Then I bought the spaceball 3000 (trans blue flame with matching headstock and nicely figured neck) and I really like it and think it looks better than it would with a natty headstock. Then I bought unstained.....which sort of has a matching headstock but sort of doesn't. I don't know if it's considered matching or not since the body is not colored.

So, in short....I'm all confused....you decide.

I used to think that matching was THE way to go - until I got a white guitar.

My Silo has a natty HS with Rosewood board, and IMO looks way better than a white HS does.

I've grown to really like the nat HS on my Silver Sparkle JP too.

The other cool option to have would be BLACK Headstock.

My BFR Rosewood Luke is Pearl White, and the dark HS looks awesome - way better than a Maple Natty HS would do on the same guitar.

I think The Rad Red LE's had black HS's - and they looked great.

It really depends on the guitar, paint colour and Fretboard wood.

............ and personal taste ;) :)

I guess I like the natty, it has a classic look. But really I don't give these things too much thought, unless I'm trying to order something. I don't like maple fretboards though.

Totally depends on the colour of the guitar, and fretboard wood. Sometimes to my surprise a certain guitar just looks great with matching, yet others look great with natty.

+100!

I can't answer this question in general as with some colors the matching headstock looks a little "too much" for my taste (for example on the Y2D purple sunset), but I tend to like natty headstocks to go along with rosewood fretboards and probably would prefer the matching ones on a maple board.

Again, Never really given it much thought, but don't nats reveal the quality & grain of the wood better? Why cover up the fact its gorgeous birds-eye maple? Put it on show I say....:D

It all depends on the guitar. I usually prefer matching headstocks, but I'm not opposed to a natty stock if it looks better than matching...

that´s it.

the other ting i figured out for me is, that i prefer it the way, i first saw the guitar. e.x. can´t imagine a JP6 MD with nat and i like the Y2D purple sunset with nat way more than with matching head.

it depends on the model and whether it's a maple or rosewood fretboard.

Axis - always matching headstock. Doesn't matter whether maple or rosewood
JP or Luke - I would go matching
Silo, Silo Special or AL - I'd have no problem going non-matching if it was maple but would tend to go matching if going rosewood.

I only like it on maple fretboards otherwise it looks like they didn't finish the job. A rad red JP with a natty headstock just looks incomplete IMO.

The JP is just one of those guitars that was made for matching headstocks. Every JP I see with a natural headstock just looks weird to me...

It's all a matter of personal opinion. I mean....some people actually like Autumn Redrise. Whatever floats your boat.

I don't like natty with rosewood either.

I'm a matching headstock fan - but for some reason I wanted, and still prefer my DD1 with the natty headstock. It just looks better to me...
