The screw on the upper horn keeps working loose on my Majesty using Schaller strap lock buttons. The plastic washer is still in place. Frustrating as I do not want the loosening screw to damage the guitar. Ideas?

Couple of suggestions.
1 - use a slightly larger gauge screw so that it grabs the wood.
2 - use the original screw rather than the Schaller screw, assuming it's long enough.
3 - use the current screw, but using a toothpick place a 'drop' of super glue in the hole right at the end. The drop should be enough to stop it moving on its own, but applying a greater force e.g. screwdriver will still loosen it. Same for silicon.
4 - use a dimarzio strap lock. Those screws fit/work well.

Good luck

Use the original screw if it fits. Please don't force a bigger screw in there, you could crack the narrow upper horn of the majesty.

And the Ernie Ball Superlocks are the fantastic. I love 'em and won't ever go back to Schallers.

I use the original screws and washers with the DiMarzio Petrucci Click-Lock straps on my Majesty guitars. Easy install, no modifications, comfortable, and looks great.

Sorry to resurrect a 2 month old thread, but I have a question regarding strap lock options for the Majesty.
Did you have to drill at all to install the super locks on your Majesty? I'm looking for a good solution and I really don't want to drill my brand new guitar. I tried the EB poly lock strap, but I'm just not totally comfortable with the big solid plastic end of that strap and the angle it sits with respect to that thin upper horn. Seems to me like a big lever putting undo stress on the horn and the screw holding the strap button. The image of using the opposite end of a hammer to pull a nail out comes to mind. The poly lock is probably great otherwise, but the Majesty in my mind is a bit unique when it comes to the orientation and angle of the horn strap button.

Thoughts?

Thank

Jon

Drill = bad. Avoid if at all possible, it's hard to go back without a messy fix. If you *must* drill, use a bit that is a smaller gauge than the screw (obvious but easy mistake), and only drill as deep as necessary. Measure the depth of existing hole versus the length of the new screws, allowing for the washers and strap button, both of which will lessen the required depth. Then wrap some masking tape around the drill bit to mark the exact depth required so you can see how far you've drilled as you are doing it.

Alternatively just use a dimarzio clip lock strap. No drilling required!

My 2c: I used the DiMarzio screws but the EB washers; the original horn washer has a curved profile and the DiMarzio one does not. Also, I tightened the screws only just enough to enable the strap ends to easily rotate around the screw. This mean that as the ends move, they don't make the screws turn.
