Very few of those come up for sale so it's really a seller's market. That said, 2K is probably fine if you're a collector. If you're going to gig it - my personal opinion only - then no. You can get a good (non-rare) Stingray to gig for far less and not have to worry about dings and scratches and so on.

No it's not the one on the picture, that's why I said "similar". The seller is going to send me detailled pictures next week, he said it has some blemishes so I'll wait and see.

oh.. my apologies! i should have read the original post better :)

i hope it will be nice even if it got a blemish or 2. you know, what one man considers a bad blemish might mean nothing for the next one :)

Holy smoke Jim that is one nice bass. Man, you should post pics of every Music Man bass you have. I'm yet to see one that I haven't liked. You have one very fine collection!

Nice Bass, I'm thinking about it as well. What happend to the pickguard? It's usually glued on, isn't it?

Tell you the truth, I actually kinda like that one better without the pickguard which would really be the exception for me when it comes to the Stingray.

I'd pay for it. It all depends on how much you want it, if you really want to get it think of it this way: how much is my happiness worth per hour? how much does it cost? will I play it as much or more than my happiness/hour ratio? and then i'll buy it.

I have the bass in the first picture but can't find the serial number. Anyone know where it's located on the bass? And someone mentioned it being a collectors item, would it be wise to hold onto it? I really don't play it much and want to get a Les Paul.

Thanks!
