I added an onboard boost preamp to my 20th Silo. Pull up on the volume pot to engage. Delete tone control and it is now the boost volume knob.

While I was at it I :

1. Burned the pickup covers with a butane torch to get a burnt chrome look;
2. Replaced the A5 magnet in the bridge with an A2; and
3. Changed out some of the hardware with gold to compliment the new burned pickup look.

Looks pretty cool. And don't worry, totally reversible. Sounds great for classic rock.

Thx. The bridge pup with the A2 is supposed to be like the Duncan EVH. I like it in this guitar it is a little softer and a little more bass and a little less midrange. This guitar has a strong and articulate midrange which works great for this.

oooh, I like that whole look. Love the finished and the pickups.. not fond of gold, usually, but that's mighty attractive

Love the idea of the boost - what did you use for that?

The burnt covers? - nah not for me. -it's like booking " a restauarnt table for 4, everybodys dressed up all nice and you have a tramp sat with you". But hey not everybody's gonna like it?

Henry, WOW big changes, congrats!! I'm personally not a gold fan, but it goes well with the Koa. What made you decide to do the boost? What does the boost contain?

I went wit the boost because I stopped using pedals but you still need a boost for solos. it is a Seymour Duncan pickup booster, basic 20 db linear boost
