Hi guys,

Im trying to decide at the moment whether to buy a 20th silo which as you all know are very rare and only a few hundred have been made or whether to buy a fully loaded ASS with a maple neck?

Any of my buddys who were at the uk knucklehead bash with me a few weeks ago in the excel remember the beautiful ASS supersport that the guy Dario was playing???
well i can get one of these at the end of august if i want or else i can get a fully laoded ASS LE 2007 now instead?

what do you guys think i should go for?

theres too many choices with these beautiful guitars:confused:

I remember that guitar he was playing, it all depends on how quickly you want the ASS (if you decide to go for that), i am an impatient bastard so would probably go for the get it now option! For investment it has to be the 20th, but i remember you saying about the ASS at the show mate and you seemed pretty enthused. So therefore the ASS would be the one i went for. but its up to you!
I dont think that has made things any clearer for you though Colin!:eek:

tough choice for sure. id base that decision on the neck profile... but that's just me

i know what you mean about the neck mate.i tried the ASS at the bash last month but i never tried the 20th silo, just heard great things about it and it looks fantastic.

I'd go for the 20th because I love my Silo and they're rare, but that's just me.

I've got an ASS and just played a 20th recently. I prefer the shape of the Silo to the ASS (in terms of comfort). In terms of sound, I prefered the sound of the 20th to the ASS. Having said that, the ASS' 5-way switch can produce some cool sounds. I used to be a straight humbucker guy, but find myself playing my ASS mostly in the split position using the single coils. That produces the best cleans on my ASS. For dirty channel stuff, the ASS' humbuckers are very nice indeed.

To me, the 20th's humbuckers sounded better for clean tones than the humbuckers on my ASS. In terms of playing with distortion, I'd have to say it was about a toss-up to my ears. So, I guess it all depends on what you'll be playing.

Again, the body of the Silo is more comfortable for me than the ASS. Hope that helps. I'm debating right now on whether to pull the trigger on a 20th. If I do, I'll be selling my ASS.

The 20th would get my vote. If you wanted to get some single coil sounds out of it, you could install a push-pull pot on the vol or tone pots and split the humbuckers.

I'd go for the 20th Silo man! These things are amazing! Plus you can always get an ASS later on if you want. The 20th Silo is very unique and resonant, and if you like higher output pickups, they work very well with this guitar. The tone block is magical like I have said before.

That is what I did. The middle position with the push pull activated for single coil is KILLER.

What I would do is pick the guitar you like and forget about investment. You buy it to play, not to hold on to for the next owner down the line. If you want to invest, buy a Krugerrand.

That being said, the 20th is incredible.

Of course, did I mention mine is Koa topped? :D

I agree that whatever you get, get to play. That's what a guitar is for. As far as the choice between the 2, I'd also go for the 20th and order an ASS later on, brand new w/ your specs.

By the way WonderDog, which guitar in your stable is your current workhorse?

dude. i'm in exactly the same boat. so many folks go on about how amazing the 20th silo is. i've yet to see/hear/play one in the flesh. i very much doubt i ever will. i was pretty interested to hear that a couple of suppliers still have some NOS lying about.

however, i always come back to the axis. i just love that guitar. i've always preferred the shape of the body and the neck profile is sublime. the only one that fits my hand better is a luke neck.

tough choice. i'd say go for the BFR ASS. that way you'll get the tone of the 20th but the look/feel of the axis. that is if you can live without a piezo. but since you were after one fully loaded ...

such a tough choice.

You should definitely try both and compare... I bought a 20th unseen, because everybody said it is a great guitar...

And believe me, it is absolutely great!! But I recently sold it...

I still prefer the shape and the sound of the Axis Super Sport, especially the neck profile... It's a matter of personal taste really... To me, the ASS (with the MM90's) is the best guitar... With the AL as a very close second...

Hi, Toon!

Just wanted to say Thank You one more time. Just to let You know - Your 20-th silo gets a good amount of playing everyday, and yes, it's a wonderful guitar:)
