I know everyone that has one of these goes on and on about them but they are just amazing.

My main gig is a wedding band and this is just the most perfect bass ever.i can play anything on it, you can switch sounds so quickly that it becomes fun just to try different things in different songs.

i know there is alway the people who say "if you want to play a p bass then just buy one" and thats cool,i have one that i havent gigged in years.but i love the fact that i can play a musicman and if i choose to can make it sound like a p bass but still have the quality of a musicman.

in saying that i use it mainly in active with the H and centre S on.but there is some songs that i just love to play around with the tones a bit.i never did before but its all at the flick of a switch now !

i also got asked to play a soul gig with an up and coming singer and he loved the bass too,i nearly faked him into thinking it was an upright bass :D

here is a quick clip a punter took at a wedding last weekend for his sister who want to see us before she book(she lives in the uk)

you cant really see anything, just thaught i would stick it in for the fun

Thanks Again Popps this bass means the world to me

sounds phantastic.... would have loved to hear AND see you play that famous bass solo lick!

yeah pitty he missed it,its such a cool lick i try my best with it but its not 100% right.mind you i have seen loads of guys on youtube that hack it to bits and do a version of it.but i try to keep it the same as Bakithi does it live just without the phaser or flanger (cant remember which one he uses)

some nights i nail it others i kinda get.

mind you my wife was at a gig a few weeks back and i played it really well.after the show i said so what did you think of the bass solo as she said

"yeah it was great, you nearly got it right"

i love her for being so honest

we are shoot a video soon if it makes it in i will post it and please dont hold back !

You are married to the same kind of women as me, one with impeccable hearing and honesty.

What you actually hear on Bakithi Kumalo's bass "break" in that song is in reverse. Once it was recorded, they mixed it backwards for the final record version.

This may account for the "effect" that you are hearing.

Too true brother. I do love someone who speaks their mind instead
of trying to guess what they are thinking.

Isn't the second half of that bass solo a reversed loop of the tape? Or is the urban legend wrong?

(nice tone btw!)

On another humorous note: I just played Call Me Al for a gig, and separately have been playing the Meter's "People Say", which has another great 2-bar smoking bass/guitar unison part, and for fun, I grabbed that part, put it in the right key and used it for the solo ...and it worked great! (Good for me cause can't pull off the original, backwards or forward!

I think the entire bass break is backwards. It was mentioned in Bass Player magazine or Bass Guitar magazine, I can't remember which.

it was bass player i think but i am pretty sure he said it was just the second bar,as in he played the first bar and then reveresed it,he also said something about using a flanger or phaser.here he is live bass solo at 3.44 but the solo is just part of what is a killer bass line.
his right hand thumbing is a beautiful thing

I've heard that rumour too, apparently the solo on the record is a reverse playback of the lick... but if you see it on live performance on youtube or on tv, they never play that exact lick live, but something rhythmically close enough.

And Dave very nice sound you got out of your 25th, I know exactly how it feels to play that bass. Well done

That's absolute true!

I watched an interview with Paul Simon many years ago where he confirmed that!

Anyway, nice sounding amateur video clip, sorry to can't see the bass at all!

Edit: ...talkin' about first video!
