So BP dropped a line on this bass to be debuted at the Anaheim NAMM show.

If I may ask, without being a pest. Are there any details that we can knpw about this bass?

Is it possible that it may feature the "egg shaped" pickguard?

Or is it still too early in the count for any details?

Come clean on this one BP my bass buying future depends on it.

I will always buy EB but I am so confused after the 2 pup SR5s and Bongo. I think I would just say screw it and order a Sterling 5 or 6 without knowing.

Has Dudley outdone himself or are you getting even for some of the things we have said here?

Here are all the details I know about the Sterling 5, as heard in a conversation involving one Big Poppa, one Dargin and one bovinehost:

BP: "I want to do a Sterling 5."
Dargs: "A Sterling 5....uh....okay."
BP: "No, really. Write it down, I want to make it happen."
Dargs: (now alert) "Okay!"

Okay, everyone caught up now?

No, it was more authoritative. It was my impression that Dargin wasn't sure if he was serious or not. Of course, we were all drinking, so my impression could be way off.

Some other hints have been dropped. "Downsized body" was one.

Since some people complain that the Stingray 5 is "really a 5 string Sterling," I think you should definitely go with a crescent control plate on the Sterling 5 just to make their heads explode. :D

The idea of a Sterling 5 makes me hope I join a band where I will need a 5 string again.
