6166 micro switch and buffer setup

Another newbie here... be gentle... I've only got a couple of questions.....

Okay, I've got the EB 6166 volume pedal, with the microswitch inside - can anyone save me some time, here - I've been researching this forum and EB's website, but can't find a clear answer to this question: with the microswitch set to the left, is this the gradual full-sweep taper, and the right, the more rapid end-of-throw taper?

Also, I'm using an Axxess buffer. The 6166 is designed for passive electronics. Does the buffer act as an "active" portion of the electronics? I'm currently Axxess BS2 buffer/splitter > EB 6166 volume pedal > Teese RMC2 wah > Barber Tonepress > Fulltone MOSFET > Sweetsounds Ultravibe > Fulltone Chorusflange > Diamond Memory Lane > Monte Allums modified BOSS GE7 EQ > amp. I doubt this mattters, but there's also a Strobotomp tuner off the tuner out on the EB 6166. The buffer is there to boost the signal a little, as it was getting a little muddy. Is it "correct" to put the Axxess BS2 buffer in front of the EB 6166 volume pedal, or should I move it after the pedal, so it will only see "passive" electronics signal?

Anyone have any input on these ?'s

Hello El Steve-O,

Those are good questions. When the micro switch is switched to the left on the 6166 (or up on the 6180), the volume is slightly boosted in the beginning of the swell -- effectively creating a slightly more even swell. As far as pedal placement, the 6166 was designed to follow directly from the guitar, or at least before any active electronics or buffered signals. That said, every rig is different and worth experimenting with. Try the pedal in both places and see what you like best. I hope this helps.
