Thinking about getting into either a 7-string or baritone for going harder and deeper. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on this? I loved using a friend's Dalectro Baritone for some warped spy music on an album I just finished. But I've also got the itch all of a sudden for some heavy de-tuned stuff, and don't want to screw up the setup on my beloved Morse.

If you go with the Silo Bass it gives you 10 different switching options, as well as save you some dough!

Will the Silhoutte give me that classic 50s goingy-goingy Bari-tone? Also, how is it for the crushing de-tuned metal thing? Keep in mind, I have really gotten used to using medium-output/PAF style pu's.

For the de-tuned metal thing, listen to Dream Theater's 'Panic Attack'. JP used a Silo Bass on that song. That song is extremely heavy.

John, I'm not sure what you mean by "goingy" but here are some youtubes... I think both are in E-e tuning if I remember correctly. Dream Theater's Blind Faith is in A-a tuning with a Silo Bass.

Ok, thanks to your input and Derek's, looks like all roads are heading to the Baritone/Silhouette!

Oh, "goingy" is my unofficial term for that classic Danelectro-Rock Lobster tone. ;)

The Silo bass I believe has some kind of PAF pickups. The one JP used had his pickups (air norton and D-sonic or steve's special, don't remember). Either way I'm sure all options in the EBMM range are good choices.

just get a guitar you like up the guage of your strings and drop down the steps I have a sg with 13s tuned to b the strings are tight and plays fine. I have realy considerd baritones and seven strings. I have been playing tuned down since 91(death metal). I always go back to a standard guitar. If I had to pick 7 or Baritone ....................Baritone

That's right, but can you tune a standard guitar E-E one octave lower? There's the appeal of the Silo Bass IMHO. Plus it's a different tone than that of guitar or bass.
