79 sabre w/graphite neck

Hi fellow MM fans,I recently purchased a 79 sabre bass w/ a modulus graphite neck,the bass originally came with a wooden neck, the graphite neck was installed at a later date, just wondering why there is no MM cutlass logo, and no evidence of a string retainer. Thanks.
