Look around for a used Music Man SUB, they are American made Music Man basses that were sold at a lower price to help people like yourself get ahold of a Music Man. You might find one used for that much, although they'll be more likely be around $500 or so. Don't be fooled by the price though, they are quality instruments. Try Craigslist, Music Go Round or some other used store.

Good luck!

Dude. i just bought my first stingray. i started out with the notion that i was just gonna pick up a cheapy Fe***r J bass 5 string for around $500 cause thats all i had. then i played every j bass i could in every guitar store. i picked up a stingray and knew right away i couldnt settle for anything else...i spen a couple weeks found one used on craigslist.$900 bucks. I HAVE NEVER BEEN HAPPIER!.

I beg you ..save and wait..theres even a bunch of guys on here who have basic rays and bongos for $900-950 SHIPPED and you know theyre taken care of.. trust me your patience will pay off. a cheap bass aint good and a good bass aint cheap and if you buy used its usually wont depreciate in value any lower than what you purchased it for

I didn't want to sell mine but am in a financial bind. I have a Black w/maple neck 90 MMSR4 that I would consider 800 plus shipping if you can't pick it up in the LA area.

The body is quite reliced but looks cool as hell. The action is low and everything works like new..or maybe better, they seem to ripen with age.

Shoot me an email [email protected] if interested and I'll answer any questions and send you pics. Otherwise it goes on evil bay in the next few days.

The time has come sell my Musicman SUB. This model is DISCONTINUED and RARE I have owned it for about 4 years and I have rarely played it. It has a blood-red body with a black headstock. I did take the pick guard off after i bought it because I thought it looked better without it, kinda puts a personal touch on it. Passive (Bass & Treb) EQ and plays great! One of the best sounding basses I have ever played. In great condition, a few small scuffs on the tip of the headstock, one small scratch on the bottom of the neck, and one pin-point paint chip on the back of the body, all of which are just cosmetic scratches, nothing that gets even close to the wood or effecting the playability. I bought this New for $550. Serious offers only. Selling for $375 or Best Offer

Comes with soft gigbag in picture.

Must say that is a good deal. I have a teal blue SUB (not for sale) but if it were I would want 500 for it at least. If you buy it try to get the pickguard with it. The SUB's use an aluminum "diamond plate" looking pick guard, it's kinda cool. The bass is not quite up to my 90 SR as far as action and sound..but looks just like it other then the satin black rosewood neck,,and it's a very good bass for that price.

You just gotta keep an eye out for the deals. I just bought a regular StingRay for $600 bucks off the local craigslist.
