wtf is up with him trying to get 50 bucks for a bag that doesn't even cost 30 brand new?

i hate people like that, like the dude who bought the thunderbird IV on ebay 2-3 weeks ago, 500 with case, he's now selling the bass online and saying he'll inclue the original case for an extra 50 bucks..

that kinda stuff should be illegal.

I think Jay Turser was making Stingray copies way before the OLP's came out but they suck anyways so I guess it really doesn't matter :D The OLP's on the other hand IMO are good basses for the money.
I believe the reason for OLP was due to companies like Jay Turser using the design not so legally SO tocombat giving the 'Ray a bad off-shore name, OLP was cooked up :D

and yes, the OLPs are great. I just sold the Tony Levin OLP on saturday at the store and earlier in the week had plugged the OLP MM-3 passive 5 into a BBE Sonic Maximizer pedal............ ............. no bull-jive guys, I would feel very comfortable if that was a set-up I had to use for any gig OR session , might not be top tier but is a hell of a lot better than brands that start with S and rhyme with choir :p

my buddy who bought the Tony Levin OLP is an amazing keys player so for him it was ...well, if I don't totally suck inside of a year then atleast I've only spent X amount of money and then I can pony up for a Bongo!....

Maybe I'm a snob, but the only reason I would ever have a copy of an EBMM bass would be to set it on fire for a video of something...

LOL. dude you rule!

OLPs are great for getting the EBMM "look" out there. hopefully people that have those grow to love the look and get an EBMM when its upgrade time

As I recall, BP said that the OLP thing is being run or otherwise handled by our very own forumite kmaKY (Gary), who also has "a little something" to do with BC Rich and Kustom.

I hate to say it, but I have seen some EBMM Stingray copies (4s and 5s) at a local music store. Maple necks, sunburst bodies. The have the brand "AXL"(?) on the pickup and the model name "Suncoast Bass" on the headstock. Retail is about $299 list. The headstock shape is slightly different, and I wouldn't be surprised if that is due to infringement issues. They actually look alot like an EBMM copy that Johnson, I think, was selling. They have been sitting in the store for at least a year....

They are about as close to a real EBMM as this:

is to this:

(sorry for the non-EB content, but I think it's the best way to illustrate my point. "Powerful Paul Tone..." Yeah, right!!! LMAO!!!)
