Question A few questions about the Roasted Neck Stingrays

Hello,
I have been drooling on the keyboard while checking out the MM Roasted necks.
I honestly am not that big a fan of the "Black Sugar" paint.
I see that they just released A new Classic ray color " El Dorado Gold" that is available with either the birdseye and flamed necks or the roasted necks for about $100 more....

This might suit me fine because I do like the gold color and like the idea of owning a 2 band classic. Annnnd can get the roasted neck to end the drooling! hahaha!!

BUT, these puppies are running around $2,000.00 or a little over....
Which to us mere mortals is a huge chunka ching $$ for one bass!!!

Sooooooooo before I go ahead and sell off two of my beloved Stingrays to obtain one of these beauties...I wanted to ask you guys who own a roasted neck bass what your thoughts are on them?
Are they reeeeaally all that and a bag of chips?
Are they THAT amazing to command all the extra money?

What benefits do you find from playing them?

Will do the search....
Think I am going to grab a used classic Ray with the flamed neck for now.
Found an "As New" one for a fair price.
Keep the others I have.
And wait out the roasted thing for awhile.
But will read up on it

my dad would want me to add taken with a Nikon D3 and Nikkor Lens... I should have probably found some better pix to post. But in a 2 inch preview its hard to tell.

i should add. this was the first time in 39 days i have been out of my house for anything other than drs appointments. Ernie and the Berts, Opening up for the Blasters. It was one of the most exhausting things i have ever done. But a huge step forward in my recovery.

Thanks.. I Wouldn't quite Say recovery... more proving to myself i could do it. The concert promoter had give us the option to opt out right up till showtime. I had to leave pretty much as soon as we were done. I'm also the lead singer...

Not to hijack this thread, but I was wondering something about the roasted necks as well. In referring to the special runs for Guitar Center, I'm curious to know if the only fingerboard options these come in are ebony and maple.

I would like to assume the roasted necks only come with a roasted maple fingerboard or an ebony. 'Cause if the dark fingerboard roasted Classics that Guitar Center has are ebony, then I'm sold.

Hey I feel the same way..
I saw the New roasted classics...the one's in the ElDorado Gold finish right?
I tend to like either maple or ebony fretboards also. Finding rosewood to be a bit of a monkey in the middle.
I think if it has a roasted neck I might want the fretboard to be the natural roasted maple board to show even more of the roasting beauty. Rather than cover it up with a different wood.

Hope someone can shed some light on this for you.
Would be interested in knowing as well
