Some of you might've seen these already on youtube but I thought I'd post it here for those who haven't.

Here are a few new vids playing JP solos with my Jp6 + Mark IV + 4x12 recorded with a super hifi 2 dollar pc mic. LoL. I know... I should have some shame and not use a 2usd mic to record a 5000usd rig.

Hope you like them anyway.

Nice - your tones are surprisingly well recorded considering the mic!

You know with that Mark IV you can record directly to your computer - you just need a power soak between the amp & cab and you're set (if you have recording software and a soundcard, that is). I'm going to try it myself. Just an idea.

Very nice tone! What are your amp settings on your Mark IV? I just bought a Mark IV and I'm still dialing it in. I've got it pretty close to the tone I want, but I like to see where others set theirs...

A picture would save some typing... :D

I used Petrucci's settings from the JP forum to start with and tweaked a bit from there, but yours sounds alot closer than mine. I don't have the 4x12, but the 2 1x12's should get me close enough if I dial it in like yours...

Thiago, your tone on that Mark Moore backing track clip is awesome. Good job man. I love the bar flutter you threw in there, and the phrasing sounds phenomenal.

Thanks guys!!!

@Norrin Radd: The Mark IV actually has a 'Recording Output' for direct recording which bypasses the power + cab (it simulates it). Although it's much better than many other direct recording units I still think it lacks. Recording with a mic makes it sound so much more organic, even if it is a 2 dollar mic. The tone gets more breathy (can't explain it any other way). Here's one of the videos I have up at youtube that was recorded direct. I didn't post it in this thread because it was already posted here at the EB Forum months ago.

@MusicManJP6: I have my settings posted up at grailtone. Grail Tone - Home Page
Surprisingly enough, they are VERY similar to what JP used on Systematic Chaos. When I saw it posted at the JPForum and compared it to mine I was kinda shocked that 2 amps with 20 or so knobs each could be set by different persons in such similar way. The 2 biggest differences were that JP's mids were set lower than mines and he was using the graphic EQ, which I'm not. I guess that's what happens when you let someone's playing influence you too much along several years.

@candid_x: You can get it at any cheap'o computer store. They are cream colored, long and skinny most of the time and usually come bundled with multimedia kits. ;)

@tristan: Awesome! Coming from you a compliment surely means something. I really liked your playing on the couple of videos I watched.

@petruccirocks02: Funny you liked the tone, that's the only one that was recorded from the Direct Output of the amp and not miced. That's also the only video that isn't a cover of someone elses solo hehehe, maybe I should put up more of my own stuff. Glad you liked!!

@fingbeagles: Thanks. JPs are always nice! It's a 0% risk investment! :D

Very nice job - I love the Repentance solo. Please tell me: what do you use for delay, and what are your settings?

Many thanks!

Cool. I guess I'll pass on getting the attenuator and yank the Sennheiser e609 out of the closet. Of course, that won't make my wife and kids very happy! :D

Wow, rich, creamy tone, there! Nice. It sounds better than those Marshall JVM clips I've been hearing. Though, you use too much delay level for my tastes, it still sounds great.

What wah pedal are you using, BTW? Those wah sounds were great with that amp. I'm currently not liking mine. I need a new amp to play with, and I was looking into the JVM but it didn't thrill me as much as your Mark IV clip. Nicely done.

@glockaxis: I really appreciate the 5star rating. :) Hope you make a wise choice on your amp thing.

@roburado: Yup! Webcam. One of those Creative NX Pro. Can't say I like it too much though. If the room isn't completely flooded by the sun the cam lags. Can't wait to get myself a digital camera, but that's not at the top of my priorities right now.

@jbert: Hey thanks. For Repentance I used a simple one-tap Delay set to 660ms, 30% feedback, 20% mix level on the G-Force.

@Norrin Radd: Guess I'm lucky I don't have wife and kids huh? Then again, I don't have a Senheiser e609 either. (*accepting donations, if anyone feels like giving me a birthday present on July 18th :D *)

@Sin: I used a Jim Dunlop 535Q Crybaby. Also just bought it along with my other new gear. Awesome wah!

Hey great playing do you write your own material ?
loved to hear some original licks dude !!

As a matter of fact my band is writing music for our first album right now.
I like the direction we're going. This week we finished a song that clocks in at almost 13min, yummy! ;) It'll be awhile til it's out though... We don't wanna rush it, we have to be 100% proud of our debuting album in every level.

Thank you for your interest!
