So, I had to go get my 20th Ann. Silo repaired. I had to have my output jack replaced. Thanks, Dan, for the jack.

I went to the Southfield, MI, store. As soon as I opened up the case at the door to show them what was inside, people started oo-ing and ah-ing. Many were asking me what kind of guitar it was. No one at that store had seen one of these beauties. My buddy can probably tell you more about what they were saying, because I was off getting the new jack put in and then playing my guitar through a couple of amps. Apparently, they were very impressed by the beauty of the guitar. People remarked about the finish and how sweet it looked. I'm told that while I was off playing the guitar the guys in the store were talking about how nice the guitar was.

I let one of the sales guys try it out. As soon as he plugged it in, but before we turned it up, he said, "It's gonna be good, I can tell already." He was very impressed with the sound, the feel, the playability. We told him about the construction of the guitar, i.e., the woods, the tone block, etc. He said, "It's almost too easy to play." :D He really seemed to like it a lot. :D

Other EBMM related stuff. They had a black Luke and a fully loaded Pearl Redburst JP6. These were the first two Balls that I've seen there in about two or three years aside from the basses. I had to reacquaint myself with the clean sound I love so much out of the Luke in positions 4 and 5. Awesome stuff. I was in what for me is pretty close to clean-single-coil heaven. Played it through a Lonestar and a Twin. Fantastic. I'm going to have to have one of those. Then, I thought, "Hmm...BFR?" Of course, I had to play the D-Sonic equipped JP. I think the battery may have been dead. We got no love out of the piezo. Oops. It was a nice JP, though. It was a little thinner sounding than my base-configuration JP6, though. It made me want my BFR to come. :D

Checked out the Small Clone and Small Stone, and I thought they were cool. Dug the EVH Phaser.

Picked up some Wonder Wipes, a big can of instrument polish and a small container of the fretboard conditioner. It was the first time I saw either a big can of WWs or the fretboard conditioner. Picked up a decent guitar cord that hopefully won't fall apart and leave its tip inside my 20th--the reason I had to have my jack replaced. Picked up a nice new strap for my 20th. The guy who helped me over there is a SR player. I told him I really liked the 30th Anniversary SR. He knew nothing about it. So, I had to spread the gospel a little.

Now, I've come home, and I've plugged my 20th into my equipment for the first time in weeks. Boy, I was loving it. I played through a little of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' "BloodSugarSexMagik." It sounded huge. Everything was right again in my little guitar world. All-in-all, it was a good day at the GC.

Only an AL, something in Blue Dawn, or a BFR would have made it better. Okay...maybe a 20th SR5 or a 30th SR, but I didn't get to the basses. Thank goodness there were other Balls to distract me. :D

Less than 400 in existence....and there are 400 Guitar Centers just in Beaumont, Texas.

Okay, I'm maybe overestimating.

Still. It's worth remembering that we are a very different bunch of consumers. I'm not saying better or worse, mind you.....just different.

It is a bit surprising, but only one of those guys was working there when I bought my JP four years ago. The only other EBMM guitar that I've seen in that store is a fully loaded Mystic Dream JP, which seems to have been sold a couple years ago. So, these new guys? Well, it's conceivable that they haven't seen an EBMM guitar until they got that Luke and the Pearl Redburst JP. Then, I come walking in with my 20th. :D

I stopped in at the Cerritos GC this afternoon, and didn't find a single EBMM guitar. Looks like they had 3 new Stingrays, though.

And alot of MarkBass stuff.

It was indeed a good day at the Southfield GC. Rob's 20th drew the crowds... ok...a bunch of the staffers (it was raining like none other so there weren't too many people there today). While he was testing out the new jack, people kept asking if I knew anything about it.

The remark that I kept hearing over and over was "That guitar is beautiful.... what is it?"

to whit I replied..."Its a Musicman 20th Anniversary Silo and you need to hear it!"

It was really interesting to note that the manager didn't even now what the 20th was, though he knew it was a Silo of some sort , so I explained the inner workings of the beast (the alder body, maple cap, and previously ultra double secret mahogany tone block along with the VHPAF and VPAF).

On a personal note, it was nice to try out the JP with the D-sonic as my 2 have the tweaked SS... the only problem is now the wait for my twins (see below) is all the more agonizing! (Pete.... are we there yet??? :D)

At the end of our visit, the guys (manager included) were half-jokingly trying to get roburado to trade for a Str@t... you could see them turning a lovely green shade of jealousy. :)

Guys cerritos and lawndale dont have them so larger markets can. We cannot supply all that GC needs with 215 stores. It is our fault

Interesting. There always seems to be several EBMM basses, but no guitars. I always thought they were the ones who set it up that way. I guess that does cut down on a lot of excess inventory. So besides Hollywood, are there any other GCs in the Los Angeles/Orange county area that do carry the guitars regularly?

Don't quote me, but I think I was in the Brea GC trying out a few guitars including a Luke. IIRC, I was visiting my cousin who lives in Costa Mesa, and he asked why the heck I was going all the way to Brea when Fountain Valley was much closer. I think I said that there was nothing I was looking for in Fountain Valley.

I guess this means you are doing great with tons of orders and whatnot, also that you are working to make things better I'd say. Im studying a similar situation at the moment it's a never ending situation, that's my grad. Industrial engineering and planning :p
