A mate of mine told me about a book called 17 watts. The book is written by Mo Foster and tells the stories and anecdotes (and there's lots of them!) of many famous British musicians. I've only just started reading it and my sides are aching with laughter! Good pictures of young rockstars and archaic gear.
If you are or have been a gigging musician travelling in the back of vans across the country, this will trigger some of your inermost memories and have you rolling around the floor in laughter.
In the USA the same book goes under a different title "Play Like Elvis".

I'll start off what I hope will turn out to be the EB equivalent of Play Like Elvis/ 17 Watts:-
It was back in the 70's and we were doing OK The Band was called Eager Beaver and we had a residency in The Moon Club in Cardiff, we were the only band around to have their own Bus.
All our friends waved us off from the "Moon" on our tour to Germany.

We got about 3 miles and literally a piece fell out of the diesel engine.
There we were in all our "Stage gear" in the early hours of the morning looking with flashlights on our hands and knees for the elusive piece. We found it after the local constabulary took an interest in what we were doing and helped us find it!!
What we looked like Gawd knows - we made it to Geramny with many breakdowns along the way -that's another story that has had many of my mates wetting themselves with laughter !!:D
