What happens when you get a clear pickguard and make a trip to a fancy paper store? You get an afternoon with scissors, a knife and a whole lot of fun...

Here's the original black and new clear pg.

Here's one for the Irish and a little paisly for us old farts.

Here's something wild and something plain.

Here's a couple pics of my favorite, it's a little wet.

I know I'm messing with perfection. But it's all fun...

I like the sky one...it makes it look like a window. Plus it ties into the Blue Dawn finish. Different shades of blue tend to work well with each other.

I did not have to remove the strings for any of the work shown. On the Bongo, you just need a screwdriver to remove the wood screws and the pg pops off by sliding it out between the strings and the pup. It takes all of 2 minutes to change the look and get pack to playing. My singer takes longer than that to introduce a song at a gig...

I love the endless promise of a clear pickguard.

Bongos are dead easy to change out, too, as mentioned.

One thing I will note is that the Big Al 5 guard is bigger than a standard 8x10 sheet of note paper so it's hard to print something out off the computer and have it work.

I have a clear pickguard coming with the new addition to the family so I've been checking this out.

Questions:
What materials are good to use under the pg?
Will regular printer paper stick to the bass or bleed out the colors onto the pg?
I can see a lot of potential but not at the risk of damaging my instrument (the bass that is :D)
