I had time last night to perform some maintenance on my Mystic Dream JP... I ended up taking the strings off, polishing the frets and cleaning the fretboard with steel wool (#0000), quenching the fretboard with a fretboard conditioner wonder wipe, and then restringing with new strings – lastly hitting the body with instrument polish wonder wipes. She looks SOOOO good now! I then stretched the strings, tuned it up, and adjusted the truss rod and bridge level. She's good as new now!

Unfortunately, I ran out of time and didn't get a chance to plug it up and play it, so I'll be cranking it through my Rect-o-Verb this evening... I'd like to snag some good pics too while she's looking minty fresh. Hehe.

Fun times!

Awesome. I love doing maintenance work on my BFR. Same goes for my Mesa. I just really enjoy having them both look great. And its nice cuz people give ya compliments on your gear, which is always cool.

Plus one Phil! I dont understand whats so fascinating about the "worn" look? Unless its a testimonial to a wonderful and amazing career (music), I absolutely think that an instrument must be kept clean and pristine.

All hail to maintenance routines on your Balls!!

Took some pics on my lunch break today. It was a bit cloudy and nice and warm - perfect weather for pics!

Here she is inside:

Oh and she sounds just as good as she looks - I never tire of seeing the ever-changing colors!

Good times indeed, brother :)

Are you a big fan of the wipes? I'm just about to treat my Sub to a similar overhaul. The rosewood has a very 'dry' feel at the moment, and the frets are a little dull. Probably 'cause she has sat in the shop for some time.

Your pics are fantastic, nice.

Which is a high possibility for my Sub right now. Top idea.

Love the wipes!! Use a bit of #0000 steel wool to shine the frets. Just cover the pickups to keep the metal shavings from the wool from sticking to the magnetics! Use the fretboard conditioner afterwards and she'll be looking great...

Yeah, doing the maintenance on my JP is one of my favorite duties! Wonder wipes come really handy in this procedure...and when I finish I admire the view for several minutes. Shining, classy and ready to roll piece of art laying down in the case...my beautiful guitar!

To be in a club I need to get mesa :) I actually have 2:90, but it doesn't count :) It has to be Roadking, Roadster, DR or Mark IV. I can give away my all furniture to get my hands on one of those machines :)

best,
Mike

PS. MusicManJP6: those pics are sweet! It's how the guitar should look!

thanks fellas!

emkey: the Rect-o-Verb combo is the way to go! I got mine for about $1000 and it is MINT condtion. I can cop JP's tone as well as any other tone from this amp. It is the best bang for the buck Mesa available! I've owned, a Mark IV head (with two thiele cabs), a Roadster head (with two thieles then a 3/4 back 1x12 cab), and an F-30 combo - but the Rect-o-Verb combo works best for me! The Roadster of course was phenomenal, but it was 'too much amp' for me...

I love how 'metallic' new strings make my JP sound!

On a side note - it should be a few more weeks until my new BFR comes in! I can't wait to lay eyes and ears on that beast...

Thanks Scott! Yeah, the neck is quenched now and the rosewood looks very 'rich' and 'healthy' now. Haha. And the frets are oh-so-shiny too... Much improved compared to before!
