A little SR4 Amp setting help here please

Ok, I'm slightly confused this morning. I could have sworn I read that the pickups (hh) on the SR4 are passive with an active preamp, but I can't find where I read that, and the musicman site only says active preamp. So my question is, which one is it, and if using an amp with a -15db cut do you typically use it or not?

It's active preamp/passive pickups. You shouldn't have to use the padded input unless you are over-driving with the input gain at a low setting.

That's pretty much what I thought and the way I've been running my amp. I guess I had a brain fart or something.
