So I get home from work and my daughter has a friend over, a friend from her soccer team. Now the kids all wanted to go swimming so we had to call this girl's parents. So after numerous attempts we got a hold of them, and it seems they were in the neighborhood so they popped in. So here we are chatting and the women start discussing 'bigger homes' and then my wife mentions my dining room-studio conversion, and this girl's fathers jumps up and says "WHAT"...oh yea he was excited. So I took him over and he flipped. Turns out he's been playing since he was young, stopped for a number of years then recently started again (sound familiar). So he sits down infront of my pedal board and I go right for the juggular, the EBMM JP7. Needless to say he was floored. Funny thing was, and this is important, his one gripe was the action was too low...man I loved that part...Yeah baby 1/32" too low.....WWWWOOOOOHHHHHEEEE! So he gets playing trying out my SUB 1 as well, and he loved it. He's normally F&*^%$ Strat player. He was playing some sweet blues licks. Then we get talking, ala Steve Morse...man it was quite the day, we've been going to soccer games all summer and talking and stuff, not knowing that each others passion is guitar. It's nice to have someone to talk to (well besides you guys) :D

Hehe - that's cool Raz! While we're here, I have one to share too. This just happened yesterday afternoon.

I decided to have my department over for a BBQ at my place. I have an intern working for me, and he came too. He's been somewhat of a quiet guy, and we've never really hit it off.

So at the BBQ, one of the guys who knew I played asked to see my 'guitar room'. Rob (intern) looks up and says 'you play guitar?'. He doesn't say much more, but follows us up to my mini studio. He's thrilled with my room and guitars. He proceeds to tell me he has been playing too, has his Strat in his car, and the WHOLE reason he has been working to get a comp sci degree is so he can finance 'this' (as he motions to my room). He said that he has been trying to find someone to talk to about PC recording hardware, and said he never would have thought to ask his manager :D. We got to talking and he brought up a conversation where he overheard me say that I couldn't stand Nirvana. At the time, he assumed I was taking the old man stand - 'these kids and their loud music.' He never would have guessed that we liked the same music. Come to find out, he's the only other guy in my department who has ever even heard of Petrucci and DT (and as you guys know, I'm a big fan). For some strange reason, he seemed a lot more comfortable around me today! :D

Anyway, of all the stuff in my room, I was most proud to open the case of my shiny, still new looking EB JP6!

I know the feeling Raz. It's SOOOOO gratifying to run into others who don't view the guitar as a teenage noisemaker.

My story...

I went to a healthfood market tonight and was walking by all theses different bins with nuts. A beautiful woman was sampling a bunch of them and I said something like "Don't make me do a citizens arrest for stealing". We both laugh and start talking. Really nice conversation. Man, what a smile.

I had 2 choices, ask for her number, or give her my card.
I chose #2 and said if you ever wanna hear some guitar playing I hope you'll call.

She said I definitely wanna hear some guitar playing.
We'll see.

Better to get rejected this way.

You've seen how much the ladies love even the worst singers. And I figure... I've got nothing to loose. I mean... Seriously... I've got no girlfriend, I'll let ya know how it goes!

I will make a trip to the health food store this afternoon...

What was the line he used? I know it was something about his nuts and guitar playing.... and then he handed her a business card.

Wish me the best of luck guys... cover me i'm goin in!

Hmmm....very good point. It is strange how women just love the least talented, ugliest guys. Why aren't women beating down my door?

Maybe my wife chases them away. Yeah...that's it...it's my wife. ;)
