Demo with Silo Special - Intermezzo

It's another demo, I called it Intermezzo it's definitely a simple tune with tapping melody and chord progressions, check it out when you have time guys and I hope you enjoy this Intermezzo, thanks :)

UP DATED : Here's the NEW version of a full song, using Barry's Silo Special Piezo, http://www.poncosatrio.com/Ponch_Intermezzo.mp3 , thanks.

Lovely Ponch, really nice. I was always taught to use plenty of RH damping when I tap but you don't seem to need to. What amp are you using?

Nice work, Ponch!

I always need damping of some sort when I tap too (eg a handerkief or something tied loosely around the neck between the nut and the left hand). Then again..maybe it's just that my technique sucks. :D

Good work, bro. Sounds nice. It'd sound even cooler with some sort of synth track with it. Just my opinion. :D

bro Ricman, I recorded it direct with toneport (clean signal + neck PU sound ) add some delay and reverb lil bit. when I tap i definitely constant damp my fingers, for my LH even my fingertips for example when i hit the 5th strings with the same finger, my fingertips also touch the 6th string a lil bit to mute it. For my RH I also mute the strings with my inside palm, especially when I play long running licks/melody. thanks for the time bro :)

Thank you David!

Yes sometime we need to do that too, I hear when Marty Friedman on studio, he sometimes ask someone to damp his guitar with their hand, he said human hand helps to get much more natural tone than another damper.

That's awesome! Really laid back.

As far as damping, I tend to use the bottom of my palm to dampen the lower strings a bit.

That's a brilliant idea! Next time I try to record some tapping, I'll get someone to do that.

I've seen Satch do something similar playing "Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing": playing hammer-ons with the left hand, and damping with the right (near the nut). Fascinating to watch.

Many, many years ago, I was learning Satch's "Midnight". I complained to my wife about the problem of the strings ringing behind my left hand. She invented/made this little thing out of material that looked like a capo and was held in place with velcro. The idea was that I would attach that to the guitar between the nut and my left hand. It kind of worked, though not real well...but at least her heart was in the right place! (I think a similar device is now on the market...darn, missed our chance to make millions ;) )
