I have read on this forum about many Sub 1 owners complaining about the lackluster sound the original guitar produces. I just had my tech go through mine and change out the 250k pots to 500k pots and changed the tone circuit to one he called the orange drop (I believe the value is like 22) or something like that. Wow, what a difference! This guitar really screams now. I just wanted to share in this down economy this is a cheap and very effective mod. Just passing it along to my fellow EBMM brothers & sisters.

Wow...congrats on the mod, but I'd be interested to read some of these complaints of lackluster sound. While some people do occasionally swap out the pickups, most people seem to love this thing....

When I did my modifications for my Sublhouette, I swapped the pot to a 500k that came out of my Axis (which got a push-pull to coil split). I didn't find that the sound was better. I'm in the process of completely redoing with the pickups from a silo spec with silent circuit. I went back to the 250k and the stock capacitor size. Not back together yet, so I can't comment on the sound.

thanks forthe report, I have been thinking of changing out my Sub 1 double hum pots to 500k myself, and replacing the cap with a .022uf mallory cap ala G**son I would be using CTS pots
Although, it sounds pretty good stock... :)
