Hey guys,

What with the ever repeated queries about discontinued finishes that always pop up every few weeks I thought it would be fun and also quite productive for the kind folks at EBMM if we took the time to each chime in with some ideas for new colours that could perhaps be offered in the future. A kind of a wish list.

The idea is NOT to suggest any colours (sorry 'colors' for you USA boys ;) ) that have been discontinued because that has clearly happened because they didn't sell too well. NO SPARKLE FINISHES either! ;)

Hopefully our suggestions here may give some indication as to how popular these colours may be if introduced into the line.

I just wanna state for the record that I'm not starting this off because I'm in any way dissatisfied with the current colour options, I just thought it would be fun. :)

I'll start the ball rolling by suggesting Tigers-eye dye and Black cherry like in the middle of Black cherry burst.

I think they would look great on an Axis :D

How about Fog Dust? A white-ish grey in the middle bursting darker till full Black at the edges? Would that be Fog Dust Burst? No.....i`m not on anything! *LOL*

Adding fuel to the fire perhaps but here goes. Colour wise, I reckon some of the limited colours should be made available to order permanently eg. the radiance red or envy green. Buttercream is still available and I would love to see a fully speced Sil Spec with rosewood board in that colour - hopefully it will remain available for a while. I think the y2d Morse guitar has had people thinking about maple tops on other guitars eg. Luke or Petrucci - that would be something to see. Finally, on a slightly different topic, I'd love to be able to request a vintage type finish on the headstocks, particularly on a Silhouette - at present I think the Sil Special headstock looks a bit anaemic - some tint would look a lot nicer. I know there is no EBMM Custom Shop, but you can dream...

I don't think it would be prudent to bring back (as permanent offerings) those colors which were sold under the premise of being 'limited editions'. I just think it's bad business, and who knows what some litigious idiot might bring to bear.

Also, the several colors which are exclusive to certain models (Mystic Dream and Pearl Redburst for the Petrucci, Luke Blue for the Luke, and Morse Blueburst for the Morse) should probably remain exclusive to those models for the same reason.

Potentially, somebody bought those colors/models for their exclusivity. My 2 cents. :)

I agree on certain points regarding the limited colours although I believe the limited models have a different neckplate etc which will make them collectable anyway, but the Pearl Redburst would look great on a Silhouette or Luke - I didn't mention Mystic Dream which is 100% identifiable with JP

I had a strat elite waaaaay back, that was what you're describing, only reversed. It was silver/white on the edges, darkening to black toward the middle. It was really nice.

I'd love to see that kind of finish in a transparent model, with a really nice quilt top. mmm

I understand that certain colours do not sell well.
However, I would say that the existing colours remain. We could call them basic colours.
Then you could have the Limited Edition colours or colours that are model specific.
Then you could have another category that are Premium colours.
Naturally there'd be an extra charge for this, which I'd be more than willing to pay for my Blue Pearl!!

im pretty conservative on color choice; ive never been a fan of sparkles or other such craziness. with that said i guess what id "vote" for would be trans-black

... has trans-black been done? i think ive read about that on the EVH or something. hmmm, maybe my vote doesnt count

Trans-black was not a big seller so it was discontinued...

Interesting idea for the thread...

A Gibby-ish Silverburst would be awesome...

Maybe another prismatique color like MD that shifts from a silverish to an orangish to a redish...
or a Solid aqua (not quite teal) or a pearlescent sea foam green...

There was a prototype JP in a red/orange DuPont color similar to how the Mystic Dream works.

You mean an "Oasis" color to go with Egyptian Smoke - Desert Gold - Lava Pearl ?
We've had this discussion before, OC :)

I like my "Oasis" name more than "Solid Aqua" :p
