I have just about everything you can think of. I am looking for another guitar to play regularly, and I've been trying out a lot of different models, but I'm at a loss now. Nothing really has the quality I'm expecting in the price range I'm looking at (Tom Andersons are nice but just too expensive).

I have been looking at other high end Ibanez (I have a Jem) but I'm looking for something that's not too expensive that I can take around with me when I travel. I have a Petrucci Music Man, I have Jacksons, ESP, PRS, but I just don't know where to look anymore. I want to try something different. Everything I've picked up lately just doesn't have it. Any advice on some new breeds that I don't know about?

I've found great personal joy in getting something cheap and random from a pawn shop and tinkering with it. swapping PU's, hardware, electronics... etc.

See, I just did that with an '87 Charvel that I had sitting around collecting dust in its case for years. Full custom paint job, Seymour Duncans, and Original Floyd Rose Trem. I'll try to find a pic of it, it looks pretty wicked...

You're going to get biased opinions here :D

I've had a lot of gear too (and love the homebuilt stuff!) but when I picked up my first EBMM (a Morse) I knew I was hooked.

Each model is different- the Pet is quite different than some of the others. My advice, try some of 'em and see if they're for you. Used they're quite reasonable in price. (Arguably, new they're quite reasonable in price too!)

Other question is- what's missing from your current lineup? Something specific? Or you're just looking for new stuff for fun?

The only thing that is really missing is a Tom Anderson, but I can live without that for now, because I can't justify that type of money yet.

I'm really just looking for some high quality wood for fun. I was possibly looking at the Silhouette Special. I just don't really know what is out there these days. I've been spoiled by such nice guitars, and I was in the music store the other day and everything just felt so cheap (and sounded pretty horrible as well).

How about a Luke? With its custom EMGs, it's not exactly run of the mill.

Or perhaps a Petrucci, with its unique body design?

I like EMG's, but only for shredding. I have them on some of my guitars. But as far as clean goes, I think you lose alot of the feel with active electronics.

I also have a Petrucci 6 string w/ piezo. I like it, but I really don't find myself ever playing it. I probably haven't touched it in the past year.

Per the feel- people consider EMGs to be sterile, but what they are is even. Even frequency response across the spectrum. (It's the inaccurate tonal response that gives pickups a "feel" but guys like Lukather like to do all the eq'ing in the final mix or at the amp rather that at the guitar.) Anyhow- disagree with you- they get great clean sounds, and much depends on your cable/effects/amp setup.

As for the Petrucci or your other guitars- what's wrong with them? What you're asking is for recommendations on guitars based on zero information. What is it that you're looking for?

Seriously- EBMM is a great brand with lots of cool guitars (other than a Morse, where do you see guitars with 4 pickups and three switches in them?). But the only way to know if you dig 'em is to go to a store and try a few out.

Come to the open house!

A lot of us are hoping to try the New Morse model if one happens to be available...and the hosts don't mind ;)
Maybe wait until a few reviews are available on that one

If you like single coils and maple fretboard, absolutely go with an ALBERT LEE...not a design you see everyday.

Once you play a Suhr you'll forget about T/A...but really this forum ain't the place to tout other brands...have you checked out the Albert Lee or the 24fret Silo?

I think you might really like the silo special, I have one and I changed the pups and the bridge saddles and its become my main guitar over my axis's, def give one a try, it sounds like your moving in the right direction, the pet is a different animal from the silo special, the necks are totally different in feel and size, give the silo or silo special a try I think youll be happy with the playability and quality that you seem to demand - russ
