Steve Morse is my hero. I traded a gibson for my morse and never missed it. After you learn the switching system try learning anything by Steve. It will improve your overall guitar playing tremendously!

morse was one of my guitar heros before he got popular. i loved is dregs and solo CDs and his amazing non legato style. i have a few exercises from him and they improved my playing already but he is so unreachable for me that i get frustrated sometimes (then i exercise my legato sweeping styles ;-))
i am an ENGL player (like him) too so it shoudt be able to get great sounds.
from 1 to 4 EBs ins 3 weeks is not so bad ;-) now its time to pause a bit and wait for all those balls till they hit europe.

Hello Auge

I am a Steve Morse addict since so many years ...
I own a Steve Morse Signature for 5 years and it is really a great guitar. The wiring is great and you will find nice combinations. The problem is to be able to change your pickups combination during your solo, like Steve ...
The neck HB pickup is so nice. Like a lot of players, before owning my Steve Morse, I used to play only with the bridge pickup. But now, with this guitar, I can really use new textures.

By the way, which Engl amps do you use ? I have two Marshall. I like their sound but I am always openfor new experiences !

Hi Aug,

I got a Morse guitar a few years ago and I love it. I don't really play it much anymore because....I got a Y2D recently. Both guitars are great.

There are a lot of folks here who have the Steve Morse model, along with several other models. I don't so I can't compare them. Tommy A. is a good one to talk to about morse guitars-

i use a sovereign 100 2x10 (only buildt 1999) combo. the amp is similar to a powerball. and has 2 x 10 speaker which i love a lot. sometimes i use savage 120. and when i was in the engl factory i was allowed to test the complete new SE (wow!). i love em. very versatile. clean, crunch till heavy everything is possible. 2 mastervols (i play mainly live).

test one if possible. of course i love my silver marshall also a lot....

Congrats! The Morse ... well it just plain rocks. Both the original and the Y2D are unbelievable guitars.

Hard to think of a finer guitar player/composer than Steve. A lot of us are huge fans..even selfishly hoping he would devote more time to dregs/SMB and less to DP...but realizing he'd be crazy to give up or even cut down on his DP commitment.

I sold my "rare" black sparkle Morse about 2 months ago. A number of tones on it, but I felt my playing sounds better on the Luke.

Another huge Steve Morse fan here (seen him 40-50 times). I'm interested in trying a Morse guitar, but the only EBMM dealer around here (GC) doesn't have one in stock, and will never get one (special order).

Interesting that Augustyn calls Morse a "non-legato" player....

Is this referring to his alternate picking style or can any Morse followers (students) elaborate upon that description of his playing style..?

Mr. Morse pretty much picks every note he plays. You are usually not going to hear a lot of hammer-ons and pull-offs. Listen to tunes like "Air on a Six String" and "Tumeni Notes" to see what I mean.

yeah i would class Morse the ultimate non-legato player! he aint no Holdsworth or Garsed! his alternate picking is the best i've ever seen, especially for a musician. its simply astonishing. a lot of shredders have awesome picking chops too, but they dont play music and they dont have the soul and feel of Mr Morse.

he's the best.

Yeah, like they say, Royal music carrys. I saw SM & DL do a clinic there a few years back. I bought my Luke after playing one in the commack GC. Didn't like the color so I ordered it. I never saw an SM around at the time so I ordered it too.
If you're like me and you don't really want somethin thats been hanging on the wall with everybody elses boogers all over it you'll need to order one. At the time (about 5-6 years ago) I found the best prices at woodwind and brasswind, but I have no idea what they are like nowadays. If you're gonna order you might as well save yourself the tax on it by doing it with an out of state dealer
I had to wait about 3 months each for my instruments but its worth it. Its a nice surprise when they finally show up.

Congrats!! on the new morse......I'm a big steve morse fan he is one my favorites...Steve can really play....i will put him right up there with the great guitar players.....I hope to very soon become a morse addict. I own two JP6, and i have been contemplating what to get next..as a matter of fact my local dealer has a morse in morse blue and a black shell pickguard w/floyd that i have been eyeing for a while maybe that one or a new Y2D...or maybe both....

What ever the choice it will a BALL!!

its what i hear in his playing and what he says in his mag clinics. maybe the description fails due to my bad english ;-))

to be honest. yesterday i got a paul gilbert DVD (space ship live) and his playing style and technique is also awesome. and a lot of non legato technique.

but morses style is more unique. you can recognize always when he is on a recording (think of his triumph guest solo)

waitwaitwaitwait for EBMMSM..... :D
