The Psycho clan is going to the U.K. in July. We land in Manchester and I’m going to DRIVE to Scotland, but don’t worry I’ve been driving on the left side of the road all week. I assume that over there I won’t hear so many people blowing their horns and cussing me out, but I need the practice…

Where are you going to in Scotland?

(good choice, by the way)

Well if you unexpectedly find yourself heading to Norfolk drop me a line.....
(btw most people find themselves unexpectedly in Norfolk....but you get to like it, it is kind of like the 1930 here....) :D

I don’t have all the details in front of me, this a work trip for my wife and the rest of us are just tagging along. I’ll post where we are going once my wife gets home. I’d sure love to have a beer or twelve with any of our UK forumites.

I’m very excited about the Scotland part of our trip. We’ve traveled a lot but somehow I’ve never been to Scotland. We don’t care much for tourist attractions; I want to see farms, the countryside, small villages and anything of historical importance. I also have a fascination with churches and just about anything that’s pretty to look at.

I would appreciate any advice on what to see and do.

Thanks,

Chuck

I'd suggest that once you know where you're going, do a serach for the Scottish tourist board and see what's in the area you;re going to.

Enjoy

Thanks guys, I'll post where are going Monday when we get back. We have a big party to throw this weekend at our other house, so I'm off to prepare for that.

Thanks again, and everyone have a great weekend.

Ok, the big July bash is over and now back to the UK trip. We land in Manchester and part of my wife’s gig will be in Grimsby, we are told by our contact there that we may want to stay somewhere in Lincoln, (I’m not sure why.)

Then the second part of her gig is in Edinburgh and Glasgow, we already have accommodations there, but I sure could use some ideas about where to stay near Grimsby.

We will be traveling with our two teenagers, do UK hotels have suites or do we need two rooms? I truly appreciate your help and we look forward to coming over.

Thanks again guys,

Chuck

Hey, you're heading in the wrong direction! If you were in the London area, I'd be up for a drink or several.

I have family in Grimsby, so I'll ask them about hotels and accomodation, but it's a seaside town, so it will be mainly strange B&Bs. I'll report back when I have details.

Not sure what to suggest about rooms mate - but see if you can get hold of the Scotland tourist website or there is a mag in the US called Scotland Magasine which might be useful.

Not sure why you would stay in Lincoln if you are going to Grimsby.....Grimsby is not a bad place to stay in...

Anyhoo Lincoln is lovely - about 3hrs+ drive from me in Norwich, but it is a picturesque town. Make sure you check out the cathedral.

On the plus side at least you miss the G8 summit. My good friends in Edinbugh and Stirling are in the bunkers as we speak trying to avoid any problems.

Have a fun trip. :)

It's usually done by rooms.

And I was almost sure that G8 referred to that special spot on women.
