hello guys, i'm new to the world of music man, i recently got a EBMMASS for my birthday, and i have a question about the back part of the tuning key.

what are those wheels in back part of the tuning keys??

later ill post pictures of my new EBMMASS :)

hi and welcome to the forum.

EB uses a locking machine head, and the locking mechanism is the knurled wheel that you are referring to.
When you change strings , downtune the string then unlock the wheel.

Insert the new string and pull it through the post, then lock the wheel and tune up. That way you will have no string windings around the machine head - because you don't need windings with a locking tuner.

The beauty of this method is that if you have a guitar with a whammy , when you dive, there are no string windings around the post to loosen and then re tighten as the string returns to pitch. That way you can be pretty tough on the whammy and the guitar will stay in tune.

PS An unwritten rule is that "the guitar don't exist without pics" ;)

not to mention string change takes 178% shorter time ;)
