I'm thinking of thinning out my amp heard in favour of a single versatile amp.
I'd like a nice sounding all tube item but nothing outrageously priced (read:booteek!)
I tried a Lonestar combo recently at low volumes that really impressed me. (About $2300 CDN) Do any of you have advice or experiences to share?

I found the Lonestar really flubby on the bass end of things. BTW - how much is that in USD so we can have a better idea of what to recommend?

I had a Lonestar and they are awesome and I miss it from time to time, but for the ultimate versatility its not going to cover all styles. I also had the F-100 combo too. I sold both and got the Peavey JSX Combo that I think is just awesome. I can't imagine a guitar/style that this amp couldn't sound good or handle. Its my only amp and I used to own several. Be sure to try one out.

I think it's about $3.oo

I kinda liked the Peavey XXX I tried out a few years ago... liked it more than the Mesa DR and Marshall DSL.

Try them all, and whatever one sparks that special warm feeling - BUY IT :)

Pete - you are funny! :D

Turns out, it's actually about $1,948.16. At least that gives us a range. You can get a lot of good amps for that money. Me? I'd be getting an Orange Rockerverb 50 Combo if I had that to spend. 2nd on my list would be that JSX 2x12 combo. And 3rd - I like those Meas F-series amps. I played a 30 combo into a mesa 4x12 cab the other day and was blown away. Nice tones. Good luck, Jazzbo.
