I thought if you put money in it, it might say "WIN" but I suppose I was being overly hopeful.

Outside the Hollywood GC is the Rock Walk of Fame. Imagine my surprise to find my first cousin Owen enshrined there.

CAgc004.jpg

This made way more sense than Owen. I called Sterling. He said, "What are you doing?" I said, "I'm looking at your dad's handprints." He told me to take some photos. I said, "Can do."

So there I am! Two hot 16 year old Florida girls were looking on, trying to figure out if something important was going on.

Rex found this poor Sterling amongst the basses. At 1375, the salesman initially told us it was "a good price". Rex and I said, "Okay! Thanks!" Finally an important person came over and Rex offered him 800, to which he said, "Okay, why not." But then Rex plugged it in and (after replacing the battery), there were some clicks and pops in the pickup switch. Rex decided to leave it where it was. Too bad, too, because it played great.

Rex with a Big Al. I finally got to play one, too. I am in deep doo-doo. That sumbitch was WONDERFUL.

I also got to play a 25th. Would anyone like to purchase my child? I'm trying to raise money and he's a really good kid, lots of promise.

We didn't eat here. But it does exist, just like in that Don Henley song.

Found this used baby at Sam Ash across the street. Stanky! Alert!

Rex found some new best friends who needed our approval to make their purchases. We were as noncommittal as possible while appearing to smile a lot.

Hmmm, Rex does have some very good ideas about lunch!

CAgc012.jpg

Anticuchos, pollo a la brasa, papas a la huancaina....it was a fine Peruvian meal.

The hat is getting to be a bit like Heinz.

Sterling called while I was playing some of Rex's "knock-offs" or "clones" so I thought, hmmm, better let Rex throw him off the trail!

This man is an excellent host.

Thanks for the fun day, Rex!

How coincidental, I haven't heard the song in at least a year, and it's playing on the radio right now....

Been to the Hollywood GC many times, bought many things. Love checking out and drooling in the vintage room. Back in the 80's and 90's that whole street block used to lined with way more stores.

Interesting coincidence Bovine, I usually avoid Hollywood for many reasons but last weekend I decided to go to GC Hollywood out of the blue. It was a lot of fun. I played most of the EB's on the floor.

They had 2 ebony necked GC Anniversary basses and I finally tried a Rosewood BFR. I loved the feel of that neck so much. If that particular BFR was a 5'er I would have been in serious trouble. The Big Als surprised me. The necks were nicer than I expected. I'm not diggin' skinnier necks lately but them Big Als were nice.

Down in that vintage room there was a really nice 85 fretless. It had some nice Mwahhhh. Next time I won't wait years 'till I return again.
